Is it safe for the skin

Yes, research shows that if you use one of these lights that has a UV filter it it safe for the skin. There is a different type of lamp (not this kind) that is used for psoriasis treatment and that doesn't block UV light so that can do the same kind of damage as the sun can. There is a possibility that if you stare at this light for long periods of time it could cause eye damage, but in the product instructions it tells you not to stare at it (although glances are fine). I got that from reading scientific papers/journals. Hope that helps! I LOVE mine, would highly recommend it (I especially like that it is a more yellowish/white hue compared to another one I have that is more blue). What is the color temperature of this light in kelvin? I like what I see in the one customer photo but I see amber in the stock photo.

Color temperature - measured in Kelvin degrees - is a way of describing the color spectrum of a light source. It corresponds, approximately, to the main color a metal rod would glow if heated to a particular temperature. The higher the number, the more the main colors shifts from the red end of the spectrum towards the blue, or even "white hot" end of the spectrum. The lamps in these lights are equivalent to 3500 degrees Kelvin (I originally speculated they were 4100 degrees but I bought a unit and found I was wrong), which would be a neural white rather than cool white (4100 degrees Kelvin or higher) or warm white (2900 degrees Kelvin or lower). I cite these 3 color temperatures, 2900, 3500 and 4100 degrees because the replacement bulbs used in the unit are available in these variations. Each Kelvin degree is exactly the same size as a Celsius (or centigrade) degree used in the metric system except that zero degrees Kelvin is the super cold temperature at which all molecular motion would theoretically stop rather than the temperature at which water freezes. Same scale, just a different starting point - water freezes at about 273 degrees Kelvin. Kelvin temperature is the natural scale used by physicists to make thermodynamic calculations rather than using a scale based on the freezing and boiling points of water or some other arbitrary measure. Photographic films and digital image corrections in programs like Photoshop are also expressed on the Kelvin temperature scale, so sophisticated photographers are also familiar with the concept of color temperature. No motiveless smell is given off. I use my light at the breakfast table . 15-20 min of morning light!!!! For some get up and let's get the day started light energy . I live in upstate my.
