Good low cost door catch, easy to install, only not 5 star as in stronger breezes it struggles to hold the door

Why did you choose this product over others?: Easy to fix and used to keep a door fixed open worked well.

Spring mechanism is really stiff and loud in use, though looks ok and holds the door. Was a little cumbersome to fit.

Installed it on a plastic shed to hold the door open when using the dryer. Perfect for the job. It's quite sturdy too so when the wind has picked up it has been strong enough to hold the door open without any issues.

Bought 2 of these within 2 years for the same door, but now replaced with a different product. I thought first breakage was a fluke, but same thing happened again: when it works, it holds the door in place robustly by a heavily-sprung keep....but the springs decide not to co-operate, the 'jaws' of the keep remain firmly closed and the head of the door-stay shatters against them. Doesn't seem to matter how well you lubricate the springs. Avoid.

Very good quality. We have a fire door that is very heavy. Tried many door stops nothing has held the door open until we bought this product. We can now have the living room door open fantastic item.

When installing, you need to put a cap on the Lock fitting as it is too weak to even test close, as I found out. Crumples like an egg shell. Why it does not come assembled or at least with instructions, I do not know!. I was lucky as I had purchased 2 and used the second one to re do the 1 st and added bulk to the lock to increase strength along side the assembly. When assembled correctly looks like its fit for purpose, would then give a 5 star review.
