Mehron Makeup Skin Prep Pro Mattifying Skin Toner | Long Lasting Pre-Makeup Primer 4 fl oz (120 ml)

I can’t believe a thin coat of toner applied after my moisturizer has settled in can actually be a better primer than all of the primer creams and gels I’ve tried. And I’ve tried a lot. This works well on my old-but-oily skin to allow even coverage over gigantic pores. I use it with powder/mineral foundations, mostly. It does extend the wear time for sure, and does not let the foundation sweat off or easily blot off. Excellent product. (But give the cap a better liner, please, manufacturer. Of course this toner dissolves the adhesive over time. Solvent chemistry 101.)

I was doing hair and makeup for a commercial shoot on 2 separate 90 degree days. I have used this stuff before, but it has been a long time and not to this degree of environmental stress and heat.I can't tell you how this product basically saved my shoot. I had 5 men, 1 woman, and 1 child to deal with. Actors running for an hour or two down the boardwalk, playing with a child on the beach, hiking in the desert and wooded areas, fishing in a pond.... All in 90 degree weather.... Most of them, didn't sweat at all!!! Because I applied this product as a base before any makeup. I was shook. And so happily amazed. Plus; it mattifies the skin which is fantastic for a photo shoot.I would have to do some little touchups here and there, but otherwise most actors did very well. The two people that did end up sweating usually sweat buckets and buckets, here they just needed the occasional dab or two.I found to get the full effect, you have to dab a good amount on the skin and let it dry before applying makeup or setting up an activity. That way it works very well and it's not stickyAlso, don't use this stuff all the time, it good for fx makeup and photoshoots, but we sweat for a reason; it's not pretty but on the daily our porez need to breath.

This toner works exceptionally well at mattifying the skin. It effectively reduces shine, leaving my skin with a smooth, matte finish. This makes it a perfect base for makeup, helping to keep my foundation in place throughout the day without becoming oily.The toner creates an excellent canvas for makeup application. While it excels at reducing oiliness, it may be too harsh for those with dry or sensitive skin. I found that using it daily made my skin feel tight and dry. To mitigate this, I recommend using a good moisturizer after applying the toner and perhaps limiting its use to special occasions or particularly oily areas.

Like this product I’ve used in the past. It does help with a matte look but will give an overcast if worn alone without makeup over it. Unfortunately it doesn’t stop my makeup from moving in certain areas of my face when it’s really hot out and I’m sweating in those areas. Overall if you’re oily or want a matte look this will help but keep in mind your face will feel tight after application and a little goes a long way. I use my fingers to apply to control how much I use. Using a cotton pad soaks up the product and puts too much on your face unless that’s what you want.

This skin prep toner has become a staple in my makeup routine it truly has been such a game changer leaves me matte once the product drys, applying my foundation is easy and leaves such a smooth application but this immediately you won’t regret it I found my new favorite product❤️

As a skin prep or primer for costume make up this worked great and help up (I did use Mehron setting spray as well, however). However the claim that it stops sweating doesn’t really hold true. While applying my make up, as I sprayed it on a bit somehow hit my lip and part of tongue which instantly felt like the desert and tasted like I licked a deodorant stick lol. So I thought all would go to plan. And it did a great job of making my skin feel normal but keeping me from sweating during make up application and up until I got to the show and it was extremely hot and humid. I don’t feel like I was sweating any less than would be normal and I was having to pat myself down with a towel constantly when I wasn’t onstage. Also of note, the setting spray is meant to be cooling, which all setting sprays are, but is also meant to almost eliminate sweating. I reapplied the setting spray several times just to cool off. Still. Even though in was in the extreme heat and humidity of South Florida, where I wouldn’t expect anything to really stop sweating, I didn’t feel like my face was sweating any less than it would have been with nothing on my face. HOWEVER… at the end of the night, despite sweating and blotting with a towel constantly, I was the only cast member who didn’t look a mess. It definitely worked far beyond what I think setting spray alone would have done. I’ve never used the mehron setting spray that but I’ve never had a setting spray of any brand work to THAT degree. Stage make up is heavy and it still looked pretty great. After removing my make up, my skin wasn’t at all dry either. I don’t know how moisturizing it was but for a product that’s meant to be an antiperspirant, it was definitely not drying in the least. So I don’t feel like it actually inhibits sweating. However it’s an impressive primer and for stage make up nothing has ever worked better for me. I have to keep in mind that I was also using mehron’s setting spray which I say the same about. Didn’t affect sweating. But held up.

Use this for a concert in the Florida heat. Makeup did not move at all. My eyeliners came off but the foundation is still great. I match this with Estée Lauder double wear foundation & laura mercer setting powder.
