Addonizio is a hit-or-miss for me. Some poems in this collection are beautiful and unique, others tend to read like 14-years-old thinking they're 'not like other girls' writing poetry on Tumblr... which might tell us more about Tumblr than Addonizio, since I'm pretty sure these poems are older. I think Addonizio has a complex and fascinating relationship with her womanhood and sensuality but somehow it doesn't get to me. Maybe someone else will deeply resonate with her poems though.
