HBR Guide to Better Business Writing (HBR Guide Series) Review: Excellent book - Although this book is not what I was expecting, it's still a really good book. The points and expectations said in the book are easy to understand and the book is well written. It really makes you think differently about the way that we write and try and communicate our point through the written word. It sets your mind for a business mindset, and helps you articulate that point when writing. Excellent book that I recommend five stars. Review: Best Business Writing Book - I bought this book for my husband but I read it and loved it and will need to buy him his own copy. This is short and easy to read but full of tips and reading recommendations. It's really a powerful little book that will make even the best writer sit up and take notice. Would be a good new job or graduation gift too for anyone at any level.

Great reference!
Simple, direct, and concise read on how to improve your business writing. Chapters are brief and compact with useful recaps. The author starts with a section on how to focus and start writing. Afterwards he discusses ways to develop your writing skills and further elaborates briefly on what to avoid when writing. He ends the book with suggested approaches on common forms of business writing (e-mails, memos, reports, etc.). There are helpful appendices about useful grammar and punctual rules along with a primer of good usage. Very helpful and quick book.

Only one I found that was not outdated by today's standards
Hard to believe how outdated most business writing books have become. Checking descriptions & publish dates carefully, I finally ordered this one. Wow, it has every topic I needed for my Business English class. The advice is relevant to today's business style. Thank you for including so many real world samples - and each sample is relevant in the larger corporate environments. The appendices are priceless. Easy to read. Great price. The only CON is the smaller book; perhaps a larger 'workbook' size, resulting in fewer pages? But that is just my personal preference - more room for notes.

Covers All Bases
The Author has covered all the most important points for every writing needs (from emails, memos, reports, business letters, etc). There useful examples which shows before-and-after versions. I like the idea of always maintaining goodwill in writing while getting your message across even if the message is not so pleasant. This book is a must have.

This book should be in everyone's library
You don't know what you don't know and this book will teach you. In studying for a communications course for my MBA I stumbled on this book. This is one of the better books on the subject and every page is chock full of handy tips to make your communication skills more effective. In summary, if you write a lot or if communications are part of your job then you need this book.

Useful tips, but would not emulate the tone.
I think this book has solid big picture tips on business communications. But I thought the samples in the letter were very abrasive and not something I would ever write to a coworker or client at the risk of sounding unnecessarily rude. I was somewhat surprised that I disagreed so much with the tone of the samples, as Bryan Garner is generally a brilliant writer whose skill I've admired for years. Take in the big picture tips, but find your own style.

This is a down-to-earth, pragmatic and effective guide on writing skills. I would highly recommend it. Some might find it too simple - but remember good writing needs to be simple and effective.

la rilevanza dell'editore induce a considerare il testo come una guida avanzata che invece dispensa suggerimenti di base senza fornire elementi di scrittura d'affari avanzata
