Nice well balanced heft, easy to sharpen. My only wish is that it were double beveled, a characteristic I didn't see when I ordered. Not a big issue. The blade dharpens easily with a little practice. Great for right handers. Weight and heft well suited for minor chopping of veggies, nuts, small cuts of meat. Will power thru chicken bones and pork ribs when used discretely but not recommended.

This is a really good knife for the money, but you do need to know a couple of things. Being a Japanese grind, it is beveled on only one side (the right one) so it is suitable only for right handed use. Second, it is sturdy, but not intended for heavy chopping. Do not use this as a deba or usuba. If you keep those two things in mind, you will be delighted with the quality and feel of this knife. Nice German steel, arrives honed and ready, and a truly comfortable handle, although it is symmetrical (I prefer Japanese knives to have the traditional asymmetrical handle that has a bulge to fit your fingers). But the price is amazing for the quality. Great for veggie and fruit prep!

I took a chance on this low priced knife and was very pleasantly surprised. Good German steel, extremely sharp right out of the box, easy to sharpen with a good two stage stone, handles very well on delicate fish and light vegetables, and feels good in the hand. Just a couple minor surprises - the blade is only beveled on the right side so I would consider this a knife that is best suited for right handers, and it is not a full tang handle so it's definitely not for heavy duty cutting. But I guess both of these features make sense for a light duty filet/sushi knife. They just should have mentioned these things in the description so people can be fully informed and better decide if it's the right knife for them. Luckily, it is definitely the right knife for me.As for the one fairly negative review that was very critical of a sushi knife being made in China, I had to chuckle. There are a lot of very high quality products made in China. It just depends on the specs, design, materials and quality control implemented by the company ordering and marketing the finished product. His belief that a good sushi knife can't be made in China makes about as much sense as someone saying that all foreign cars in the United States are not capable of being properly driven on U.S. roads. Silly! Just pick and choose carefully the products you buy no matter where they're made.

BigSunny does it again. These are good knives! This is my second knife, my first being a yanagiba. Both have perfect shapes. Grinds are perfect and correct for these single bevel knives. Handles are properly shaped, comfortable, and have no gaps anywhere. Fit to the blades are superb. Not sure of the steel they use, but it's not bad. Holds an edge decently well and sharpens easily. If they used a more premium steel these knives could easily sell for a few hundred dollars. I personally think they under price them as it is. Great job with these knives. Keep it up BigSunny!

Knife was decent. couldn't really keep a sharp edge for long. And it isnt used for heavy duty. Ofcoarse when I get a new knife. I have to try it out for heavy duty. Apparently the blade chipped easily. the knife itself is better used for and ONLY VEGETABLES
