Nightlock Residential Door Lock Barricade for Home USE

I bought this for my front door as we have a front door with a side light window. Those types of doors have a structural weak point if kicked in, not to mention breaking the glass to reach the locks. This device not only has made my door MUCH more sturdy, it is out of reach for a criminal to disengage. I think adding this and something like the frame and latch reinforcements are a no brainer for doors like mine. The quality seems high and very well made. I was able to drill through tile with a masonry bit and the entire installation took me about 25-30 min. Great Product.

I had a set of these on my old home. When I bought a new home, these were literally the first things I purchased for it. These things are STOUT! Simple to install, and will last a lifetime. They provide great piece of mind, especially if you have doors with windows. The price is a little steep, but they ARE well built. After mounting to your door, and floor, simply slide the L shaped piece in and out. NOTHING is getting through one of these without you knowing. If you take your families security as serious as I do, you wont be disappointed with these.

I sleep better at night knowing we have this on one of our doors at highest risk for break in. We've purchased other security devices, for various areas of our home, depending on the type of door/window, etc.. This is one that impresses me the most. Simple design, easy to install, high quality and strength. They're not getting in! Way better than an alarm system to me, which only really helps after an invasion has happened.Great seller too.

The media could not be loaded. We LOVE these things! Working in EMS I’ve became really big on home security after seeing and cleaning up the results of home invasions and break-ins gone wrong! You can leave them in place on all but one door when you’re gone but when you’re home, you can have them in at all doors and feel extremely safe. I always struggle to go to sleep, wondering if someone were to kick the door in, if we’d have enough time to respond, after installing these and testing their integrity, I don’t even think twice about it. I know without a doubt that I’d have plenty of time to react. (Get up, make a pot of coffee, smoke a cigarette, call the cops and tell them someone’s about to get hurt.) Another thing I really like is that they’re at the floor level. Some reinforcements are designed and used up higher and I’ve always been worried about those because of things I’ve seen working house fires. People making it to the door, but unable and too confused to get the door open because of smoke inhalation, I like that these are on the ground, so if you need to escape a fire, you can remove them while staying low.

I would highly recommend this device for as once installed- simple yet very effective! However, it is given 4-Stars as is in fact not easy to install in anything but wood and has no "inadvertent-slide" restraint system. Concrete, tile, and laminated wood floors over concrete, brick etc... pose a significant issue for "do it yourselfers," unless had extensive experience in this type "handy" work as well as correct tools. Furthermore, the installers Amazon.com recommends require some training in Nightlock devices as there are multiple install options based on the type of lock, door bottom one has… and the service is not cheap- especially if one installs multiple devices. Would recommend alternative means of installation such as a great local handy-man, locksmith, and or professional carpenter-floor installation personnel.Additionally, as many were trained in "Combat Arms" in the US military, when setting up a defensive position, one, if possible wants to view and walk the position from the enemy perspective- i.e. how most likely attack-beat your defense- taking into account "dead-space" and possible unseen avenues of approach that are not readily identifiable simply doing a "map reconnaissance." Furthermore, one wants "overlapping" fields of fire and or redundancy particularly when it comes to "dead-space" and "avenues of approach." Ergo this Nightlock security device, while good and simple to utilize, could possibly be easily "defeated" by a simple slider piece of flexible metal shoved under one's door, dependent on how bottom of door sits in frame and if any gaps, etc.... This device would be better and potentially a "stand-alone" device if had something like lock nuts, retaining pins- or jam/block possibly on short chain- to prevent it from being easily lifted or jarred out of the security frame. Simply placing one's faith in one device (like a free-fall skydiver parachuting without reserve chute….), is probably not the most prudent course of action- particularly in an area where "property-theft/vandalism" is supposedly the number one crime and would therefore recommend use of this device in conjunction other security devices available at Amazon.com such as "See-Safe Home Security Door Bar Restraint System" by SEE-SAFE and "Intruder Defense System, Inward Swinging Commercial Doors, DSI-1" by Barracuda as simple examples.It is a shame some home security companies in the US have gone/moved away from assisting customers in simple yet effective "manual" home security devices- particularly in areas where the civil power grid not very stable/reliable or prone to outages due natural disasters- and place their faith, as well as customer faith, largely in "electronic" means of deterrence! This device along with those recommended and others, available at Amazon.com that are relatively inexpensive, would be great "assets" or “additions” to any manual "home security devices" or otherwise monitored electronic security systems.In conclusion this is a great device, but simply 4-Stars given due to potential difficulty of installation, as well as potential "ease of defeat" capability as product currently designed without any secondary means of retaining jam(s) in security bracket!??

This is a very sturdy door barricade. Very well made and looks great. Install is a breeze. You do need a 3/8 drill bit for the door and if you're drilling into tile, you'll need a 5/16 tile drill bit. Fortunately I had both but if you don't they are not expensive. It took maybe 5 minutes for everything. I got a couple and I'm very happy with my purchase!

This thing is AWESOME! It makes me feel safer that my son's apartment door won't be kicked in. The device is very sturdy and heavy. It installs very simply using the instructions. It's very easy to use. The only thing I wish they'd add to it, is a circle or some sort of loop to use to be able slide it out without bending over and to hang it when not in use.
