Paper Thin Prune Water
Whiskey/bourbon alternative? No. The color is beautifully dark and looks like. 12+ year aged bourbon. The aroma when opening is sweet raisiny-oak-butterscotch. Tasting it is where it all falls apart. The worst part of this is the texture. When you drink bourbon or whiskey, you know what you are drinking. I don't have the vocabulary to describe how it feels like the water and flavor separate from themselves in your mouth. It's vile and disgusting. On top of that, it is paper thin, which is wild considering it feels like you have two different types of liquid you're trying to drink. The flavor is sickly sweet prune juice. Almost none of the butterscotch or oak from the nose comes through. There is a lingering bite that feels like I ate a pickled jalapeno - awful. This can not be consumed neat or straight, unless you're a big prune water fan. Building an Old Fashioned with heavy amounts of bitters helps; I recommend using maple syrup to add to the mouthfeel and detract from the flavor, or a copious amount of chocolate bitters to highlight that essence of the base "spirit".I won't be buying this again. It was my first non-alcoholic whiskey, purchased because it seemed to be the best of the category. The packaging is beautiful, so it has that going for it....but until they can improve the texture and get it closer to bourbon or other whiskies, this is a hard pass.

Great compared to other NA options
So far this is the best NA whisky substitute I’ve tried. It is NOT like real whisky so my rating is only relative to other NA whisky substitutes. I usually drink this during the week and have real whisky in the weekends.Positives: It doesn’t have the same sickly sweet tobacco flavor that some other options have. Also has a nice burn which mimics real whisky. Mixes well with flavored sparkling water for a mock tail.Negatives: Nothing comes to mind other than it’s not real whisky, but I don’t hold it agains them (hence the high rating).

This non-alcoholic whiskey works well in a variety of cocktails
**MONDAY Zero Alcohol Whiskey - Non-Alcoholic Spirit**As someone who enjoys the flavors of whiskey but is looking to reduce alcohol consumption, I was intrigued by MONDAY Zero Alcohol Whiskey. I hoped it would offer a similar experience to traditional whiskey, allowing me to enjoy my favorite drinks without the alcohol.**What I Like:**- **Complex Flavor Profile**: MONDAY Zero Alcohol Whiskey does a commendable job of mimicking the taste of traditional whiskey. It has a complex blend of smokiness, oak, and subtle caramel notes that are reminiscent of a classic whiskey. This makes it a good alternative for those who miss the flavors of whiskey but want to avoid alcohol.- **Versatile in Cocktails**: This non-alcoholic whiskey works well in a variety of cocktails, from a simple whiskey sour to an old-fashioned. It blends nicely with mixers, bitters, and syrups, providing a familiar whiskey base for your favorite drinks. It’s particularly good for making non-alcoholic versions of classic cocktails.- **Health-Conscious Choice**: For those who are looking to cut back on alcohol for health reasons, MONDAY Whiskey offers a guilt-free alternative. It’s calorie-free, sugar-free, and of course, alcohol-free, making it a mindful option for those who still want to enjoy the ritual of having a drink.- **Elegant Packaging**: The bottle itself is beautifully designed and would look great on any bar cart. The attention to detail in the packaging adds to the overall experience and makes it feel like a premium product.**What I Don’t Like:**- **Mouthfeel and Warmth**: While the flavor is well-crafted, the mouthfeel doesn’t quite match that of traditional whiskey. There’s a noticeable difference in the body and warmth that alcohol typically provides. The lack of that familiar warmth can make the experience feel less satisfying, particularly for those who enjoy whiskey neat.- **Price**: MONDAY Zero Alcohol Whiskey is relatively expensive for a non-alcoholic product. While the quality is good, the cost might be a bit high for something that doesn’t provide the full whiskey experience. This might be a deterrent for regular purchase, especially if you’re comparing it to traditional whiskey.- **Limited Appeal for Whiskey Purists**: If you’re a whiskey enthusiast who loves the depth and complexity of traditional spirits, you might find this non-alcoholic version lacking. It’s a great alternative, but it doesn’t fully replicate the experience of drinking real whiskey.**Bottom Line:**MONDAY Zero Alcohol Whiskey is a well-crafted non-alcoholic alternative that offers a complex flavor profile, making it a good choice for those looking to cut down on alcohol without sacrificing the taste of whiskey. It’s versatile in cocktails and provides a health-conscious option for mindful drinkers. However, the lack of warmth and mouthfeel compared to traditional whiskey, along with the higher price point, may make it less appealing to whiskey purists. If you’re exploring non-alcoholic options and enjoy the flavors of whiskey, MONDAY is worth trying, especially if you’re focused on reducing your alcohol intake.

Another bad idea
This product doesn't really qualify to be called whiskey. Altho the "zero" part is true on more than one level. They have tried to put something in it to give it a burn, like real whiskey does. It does burn, but it actually upset my stomach. I mixed it with a sparkly soda, didn't help. Drank it on the rocks, terrible. Mixed it with water, that was a no go. I'm sorry to say that this product was a waste of money. I should have been suspicious when there were actual strep by step instructions on the proper way to drink it. I figure it was worth a shot (no pun intended). But I won't be buying this anymore.

Okay For What It Is
My expectations were not too high when I ordered this to try it, but I felt that it fell lower than my expectations. This is, after all, an "alternative" to a barrel-aged spirit that pulls much of its flavor from charred barrels.Flavor profile/notes:Sweet soda (flat Dr. Pepper)PepperyBurnt brown sugarWood/popsicle stickI tried this straight and as an ingredient in cocktails. If I had not tried it straight, maybe my impression of it in cocktails would be different. I tried it straight first to get an idea of what the flavor profile was like (see notes above). It had that manufactured/artificial taste. I did not enjoy it straight.I tried a couple different cocktails: Old Fashioned, mixed w/ ginger ale, mixed w/ club soda, and mixed w/ soda (Dr. Pepper for kicks and giggles). That strong flat soda flavor came through very clear. Mixing with club soda gave me a nicer take on the drink by muting the sickly sweetness. In all others, it came through as the dominant flavor (even tasted wrong with the Dr. Pepper.) My ultimate verdict on cocktails: Okay. For the price, I would not consider this again if I should happen to feel a desire to do so. I did feel that this was pretty under performing for that price.
