Dell T7810 “Chia Farming” Workstation/Server, 2X Intel Xeon E5-2690 v4 up to 3.5GHz (28 Cores & 56 Threads Total), 128GB DDR4, Quadro K620 2GB Graphics Card, No HDD, No Operating System (Renewed)

This workstation is REALLY GOOD, was delivered in time and as described, and the seller is VERY SERIOUS on what they do .. the product have a good quality .. when they sent the workstation, there were no HDD caddies and they offer to send it to me as a courtesy, and in fact .. they did .. that tells a lot about them .. I will buy from them again .. for sure.. another very important thing .. THEY RESPONDED BACK to my messages almost right away... I will buy from them this type of workstation and something FOR SURE.

Workstation was clean and as described. Unfortunately it arrived unable to boot (obviously after putting in HDD). Dell reference guide amber blink pattern says RAM or CPU issue. I tried reseating and removing each stick of RAM individually, but still no fix. I assume it must be a CPU thing at that point. Maybe something shook too much during shipping? No idea. I am getting a replacement from this vendor, though, because I want this product. Will update this review once I hear from them.

Unit arrived well packaged and pretty clean with everything except the Quadro K620, it instead came with a AMD R5 340 that, although a very old model, appears to be a brand new unit / never used card. It also came with the 825W PSU instead of the 685W which was a nice bonus. Temps were running very hot, 50°C idle and hitting 100°C under light loads, so I ended up replacing the CPU coolers with the Noctua NH-U9DX i4 (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00E1JGFA0) and some Artic MX-6 thermal paste. Temps are now down to 24°C idle. It should be noted that for this specific cooler, I had to flip the mounting brackets to the bottom of the CPU contact plate to make the mounting screws reach, and it also required a 5-pin to 4-pin fan converter but it is well worth it. If you choose to keep using the dell coolers, you will certainly need to replace the thermal paste. Other than that, all the RAM was present (mine came with 2x64GB sticks), the CPU was as described, and everything works as it should.

The outside case was not in 'excellent' condition. I'd call it Very good. It has some minor dings and scratches that were covered up with some kind of scratch filler paint. Of course I did not buy the thing for appearances. The inside was squeeky clean. In this case, it had no unused sata cables except one, and no drive caddies. The description warned that there were no HDs or SSDs included, only one DVD player. After getting needed parts, windows 10 installed from a USB with no Issues. However, all the MB features \ drivers do NOT install automatically. (example MB Raid controller) You must go to Dell Support to download. Over all I am very pleased that I got great value for the money, this machine with it's dual Xeon processors, 28 cores, is a beast. Update: 1023, Replaced the Quadro with a new Asus ProArt Geforce RTX 4060TI OC 16gb, Why? First it fits (just barely, and covers up the 2nd PCIEx16 slot) But most importantly it has 16gb of Vram, a vital property for AI, machine learning, About the most Vram you can find outside of the RTX 4080. The T7810 only has PCIE 3.0, more bandwidth or performance in the GPU would probably be wasted. However, having as much data local to the GPU as possible is optimal, and of course, this model GPU saved me a lot of $$$. $250 minimum. AI learning wants lots of Vram, followed by lots of cores, GPU and CPU, then memory addressing, e.g. 128, 192, 256bit. Photo editing and browsing 100s of photos is nearly instant. will report on AI learning later.

When the system first arrived, the case was really damaged and lopsided, seemed poorly packed. The memory had come off the system board, the power supply had come out, it was just a mess. I tried to power it on and it started to boot but the power supply sounded like a lawnmower. I requested a replacement, it was in much better shape, minor scratches was the only issue. I'm running Windows 10 and it runs really well. I've not found any application that will slow it down yet. I see the entire 128GB of memory and the CPU count, no issues there. For the price I'd go through the trouble of getting another if I needed it.

Well, the Dell T7810 finally arrived! The tower was perfectly packaged in layers of bubble wrap to protect it from the long journey during shipping. I noticed some people who purchased one of these towers reported the tower was dead on arrival (DoA) and/or wouldn't boot to POST - blank/black screen. I also had the same issue of no POST (black screen) and believed it may have been due to the fact that I removed the unexpectedly installed 128GB SSD drive to install 3 1TB SSD drives. After some thought and a bit of research, I removed the CMOS battery, which when replaced, allowed me to access the BIOS settings (repeated pressing of F2 to access BIOS settings). After applying the default BIOS, setting the time, and a couple of other minor settings, I rebooted, and still the same issue - no POST and a blank screen. Long story short, I believe many people who reported DoA or no video issues may have the SATA Operation setting in BIOS set to use RAID instead of ATA or AHCI. Once I selected AHCI instead of RAID, I was able to install Windows 11 from a USB drive. It's a great system, and I'm very pleased. The tower was advertised as no hard drive or OS. I was surprised to see that the 128GB SSD, wired keyboard, and mouse were included. I very much recommend this seller!

I was looking for a server that had more cores and RAM as I've learned I was skimping along with my regular laptop and another repurposed desktop PC to run some server functions fairly well. I'm able to load this box up and see very little impact when looking at measuring tools (such as 'htop'). This is ending up to be a very nice purchase for a decent price. Moreover, the customer service folks were responsive through the Amazon messaging service and also when I called in. I would purchase from this seller again in the future. Thank you.

El primero que compre, llego con un cooler suelto, las RAM mal ensambladas, una vez corregido esto, la WS no hacía boot, quizás la tarjeta gráfica venía mal, tuve que devolverla y volverla a pedir, la segunda ya sin problema funcionó.

Llegó en mal estado, además no es la descripción que dice el artículo, es un PC no un servidor, no se le puede instalar Windows Server, una porquería. Es la primera vez que hago una reseña ya que no quiero que la gente sea estafada como a mi.
