Doesn't back down - even on 50 year old cast iron drain pipes!
Very satisfied with this purchase. I have used this saw (w carbide blades) for challenging old 3" cast irons pipes that had to be taken out of my basement. Didn't struggle at all. Have also used it (with curved landscape blades) to cut small trees down and branch pruning. Another satisfied Makita client!

The most power to weight you're ever going to find, especially on the LXT platform.
more power, more portability and more speed and less weight than my old Sawz-All. Got my deck demo done using only this saw to cut 20 joists into 4 pieces each. got a little warm, but not nearly as hot as my sawz-all did doing less. My friend set it on a truss and it fell off, hitting the concrete 7 feet below, and it didn't leave a scratch! Super quality!This saved me from having to hire a crew to demo my deck! super value!the stroke length is also superior to my old sawz-all, with 1-1/2" stroke vs 1-1/4". It's also 5x faster than my tiny Makita with its 7/8" stroke that i bought for plumbing use.

Very Useful For My Task
I used this to cut many (medium and large, fallen and crushed) bamboo stalks -- like butter. Very useful. It will be great to cut down and cut up small trees and shrubs. Like any saw, everyone using it should be very careful. It has a sliding button and it's important to be sure it is in off position when not using. It could be dangerous as it is so efficient. I am a 67 year old woman. It is heavy but manageable. I like owning it.

Ain't no Ryobi!
I've cut down 8" trees with this thing. It's got plenty of power and holds up well. Only downside is shared with most cordless options: you need multiple batteries to handle bigger jobs. But if you've got 3-4 batteries and a couple fast chargers like I do, you'll never have to wait on one to charge to keep working
