Kreg PRS4038 Precision Router Table Insert Plate - Undrilled

I used the plate with no predrilled holes as none of them fit the hole pattern on my router. The back of the plate had concentric circular lines that help greatly with centering and aligning your router. The directions provided by Kreg were very good as well. They contain several tips that make hole drilling easier and accurate.

Indeed an axcellent router insert plate.Just a notice: I bought this plate from Europe. The pitch of the screws are in US imperial system (inches rather than meters); in Europe screws are built with the metric system; Then be aware that the nut for the router lift is unusable, as well as and the screws to fix the plate to the bench. The latter can be purchased separately, but the one for the lift cannot, as the data is fixed in the plate and is not removable.Only for this I give 4 stars for the versatility.

I bought the undrilled version which I prefer because drilling it myself allowed me to guaranteed that it would fit my router mounting plate. I like the way the bit guards lock into the insert plate, but I wish it came with a couple different sizes of bit guards. You really only get a small one for straight bits, and a large one for moulding bits. You have to use the large one for all your midsized chamfer and roundover bits, which leaves a lot of air space for chips to fall down into your router motor. Not ideal. The third one is for holding guide bushings. I don't know if you can buy more of these separately or not. i haven't been able to find any yet. If not, then that significantly reduces the value of this insert since 3rd party bit guards probably won't fit into this insert correctly.

Has 3 marks to drill holes for dewalt DW618. Since plate is plastic - very easy to drill it. I 4 holes for dewalt base, didn't use 3 existed marks. Also #8-32 1/2in screws works great for plate and router base - no need to cut.

Product was flat and install was straight forward. Non pre drilled unit work for me. A centering bit made it easy to line up. A piece of dowel with several wraps of tape works if you don’t have a centering bit.

I built my router table using this for my Bosch router. It turned out well in fit and durability. A bit pricey, but all Kreg products, as good as they are, tend to be that way.

I recently built my own router table and wanted to purchase a plate insert instead of building one to ensure that it was perfect and true. The building instruction photos showed a kreg router plate insert so I decided to purchase the same one. Im a fan of kreg products already and love the quality of their tools so i went with this one here and it was a great decision. The back side of the plate has centering marks on it making the drilling of the plate super simple. I used my ryobi R1631 router for this plate and it only took a few minutes to drill the plate and attach the router to it. I HIGHLY recommend the kreg router plate levelers when installing this in a table. It made leveling the plate super easy! A top notch kreg product that seems like it will last forever!

It’s a good router plate, nothing groundbreaking but it’s made well and had held up to larger routers without any sagging.
