Great mid-range tablet for general mobile media activities
I purchased this for my mother after her old TF101 finally fell behind the times in terms of hardware compatibility. I was looking for a mid-range tablet at or around $200 for web surfing, reading books, and playing cards, which would continue to perform for the next four or five years or so. I also wanted something with a larger screen, decent battery life, and that didn't weight too much. After some research, I chose this T580 Galaxy Tab A.It came with a charger (white) and in a non-retail box, but the device itself looks brand new - indistinguishable from something right off the shelf. I checked it over, installed all her apps, and it has been working for about two months now without any trouble at all. Battery life for reading/browsing/cards sorts of activity is at least 4-5 hours and probably more. Movement is silky-smooth, load times are minimal, and the screen quality is great (full 1080p with good pixel density). I'd recommend picking up a case, and maybe a anti-glare screen protector to cut down on the reflections a bit, but it's a solid tablet. I've already recommended it to another family member who is looking for something similar.I gave my mother the TF101 a couple years ago, and she taught herself to use tablets around the age of 60, with very little help needed from me, so I'm pretty proud of her. Now she even helps my grandmother use her own tablet - often over the phone, no less. If you have relatives in that range, they might enjoy something like this, it's pretty user friendly with the touch interface and a lot of older folks like playing cards or casino games on them, just like the previous generations used to watch TV or listen to the radio. The only complaint she's issued is that the bezel is a little narrow, so that she sometimes will accidentally advance pages in her books or change other elements in whatever she's doing through incidental touch-screen contact. A case helps mitigate this, but it's still a minor problem. She said she'd take off a quarter star for this, so we'll just round up.Otherwise, my mother's very happy with it, so I'm happy with it. I'll leave an update if it gives us any trouble, but for now I'd say it's a good buy.EDIT: It has been about six months, and my mother reports that the tablet is still doing great, no problems at all. She uses it essentially every single day, mostly for reading, looking up recipes, and playing some card games. We're both still happy with it.EDIT2: It has been about a year now. Tablet is going strong, no problems with the device. We did have to replace the charger, just recently. It was becoming intermittent for some reason, same thing happened with two separate cords. Not sure what the deal was there, may be a usage issue, but a new charger was all of $10 and the problem was resolved, so not too bad all and all. The rating stays.EDIT3: Two years and no problems whatsoever with the tablet; it's running as well as ever. I just wanted to leave this last update for those worried that a refurbished tablet might not last - for us, at least, it's doing just fine.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A, Prime Deal and Amazon Prime comes through again. Hoop Hoop Hurrah!!!!!
After fighting getting a tablet for some time now. And, after using my wife's Fire 10, I decided I needed to buy one. So, after reading reviews, I see that the Samsung Galaxy Tab A, rated very high on several sites. None of which were Samsung sites. The next best one, was much more, and since it was my first one. Decided not to go with the top unit. Even talked with respected friends who had tablets. Again, the Samsung Galaxy rated high, and some said even better than more expensive units they had, or had, as they had more than one. My mind made up. I go to my favorite sites, and the best deal was on Amazon. This is a refurbished unit, but still very new. So, the price was even less than the other sites, selling only new units. Of course, starting something new, and having little experience with the touch screen, it took some patience. But, that is me, not the tablet. And setting up, took a long time, again, because of my ignorance of tablets. Now, I have had it a week, and it is my closest companion, even more than my pc, which I have had many, for many years. Mainly because I can take it with me, when I leave the house. I am very impressed, even though I have not even started to totally utilize it, and am still adding/deleting apps, to make it even better. If I lost this one, I would happily purchase another one, and from the same folks on Amazon, Prime Deal. So, maybe I will add more, later, after I get it set up exactly the way I want. But for now, I give it 5 stars, and am pretty sure, I will be happy in the future. And NO, I am not a robot, or being paid to say this. I deal only in honesty, and my word is my bond. Old School is my life style, which makes me treat others, the way I want to be treated.

Samsung T580
With all these good reviews I figured this tablet was professionally refurbished. I was correct. Everything was spotless & looked brand new. Actuality, it looked better than the last tablet I bought new. Comes with a class 10 HC San disk micro SD. Not bad!! Original 2Amp charger. Beautiful screen you don't find on cheaper tabs. I really don't have to say how great this tablet is. The reviews speak for themselves. If your worried about purchasing a refurbs don't be with this beauty.UPDATE: Just a few weeks after purchase this beautiful piece of electronics updated to 7.0 nougat. What an os!! Another VERY IMPORTANT piece of info: Most apps CAN BE switched to external sd card. Freeing up internal memory, which actually went up after the update. If you don't want a factory installed app some can be disabled. Dump your data 1st before force stop then disable. Nougat is an absolute pleasure to use. Just wait till you see the Imovements. If you have a problem with Swype after update switch your keyboard language to "EnglishUK". Same keyboard. If there is a problem with offline voice recognition check for a English voice update. Those 2 were the only issues i had with the update. OMG..... I LOVE THIS TABLET!!!Still needing to use English (UK) keyboard for Swype to work. Nbd, though.Did i mention the battery life on this tablet is outrageously long!! 90% off my apps are able to be moved to external memory. So much for bloatware memory loss. The price of the new went up to $290. hahahaha!!! I love getting a great deal.
