NETVUE Outdoor Security Camera, Sentry 2 1080P IP Camera

I bought this to replace my Netvue bullet camera that has worked flawlessly for 3 years through all temperature extremes. I am confident that I will get the same solid performance from this product. Installation was super easy because I already had the electrical connection ran to the spot I was going to put it because the bullet camera had previously been mounted there. There are camera's that run on batteries so everyone has to decide the best option for their situation. The obvious advantage with this camera is that I am able to rotate the camera across a very wide viewing angle which I was not able to do with my fixed position bullet camera. There only 2 things I don't like. You can only access the camera through your phone and of course it would be nice to be able to view it from the computer as well. Also this camera does not have a pan and scan automatic function like my Wyze camera does. That is hardly a deal breaker. These cameras do have a remarkably wide viewing angle though and the zoom function is very nice. The thing that always surprises me is how well these digital microphones work. They will pick up sounds from 3 or 4 houses away and everything is crystal clear. The night vision function is remarkable. I have had this camera for over a month now and I am very happy with it.

These cameras are great for anyone wanting a little peace of mind. Our initial reason for purchasing a security camera was to keep an eye on our pets while we were away, but the camera worked out so well that we ended up buying another one for our front door to see who is knocking and when packages get delivered. We put this new Sentry 2 one facing our driveway to monitor who pulls up as well as keep an eye on our parked cars. The Netvue cameras seem to be a really good value and are super easy to set up. I love that no matter where we are, we can view the cameras from our phones or tablets.

I got the Netvue Sentry 2 about a month ago. This is my second Netvue outdoor security camera. My first did not include any of the pan/tilt features of this model. So far I am very happy with the unit. Picture quality is great (as with my other camera) and the pan/tilt feature is nice. At first the camera seemed a little flimzy. It is very light (especially compared to my other camera) and made mostly of plastic. In an outdoor setting, that might not be the worst thing. So far there are no signs that it wont last. Setting up the camera was a little challenging. Mostly because it doesn't like 5 GHz wifi. The challenge is that most of us have dual band wifi units these days so you have to give it a few tries and maybe tweak your router settings to make sure it links to the correct band. Eventually got it without too much trouble and without the need to reach out to support. All in all, I am pleased with the purchase and I think it should serve my needs well.

I own 2 Netvue Sentry 2 Outdoor Security Camera both purchased separately a few days apart. They get the job done . IF you are looking for a camera with descent video quality this will do . I love being able to get a full view of the front of my house at any time by rotating the camera view straight from my phone. It is super easy to install. I opt out of the cloud storage and purchased a memory card . I would give the camera a higher rating if i didnt have so many issues with the play back option. I keep getting error messages about my card not being mounted/installed . This is random , Sometimes i go in the app to check and its there other times i go in and i cannt play back the recording . I have reset and reinstalled the memory card and the issue is still there . When i play the recording back it sometimes shows me 45min worth of video before giving me the error message . So far i notice that if i disconnect the camera for 10 sec and try again it will temporally fix the problem and allow me to see the rest of the video . This is a big headache ,if you want to check what happened all day/night. I haven't been able to sit and check if it is recording even when i get the error messages or if it stops recording when it doesn't recognize having the memory card installed. Im hoping this will be fix with a software update at some point. I wish i could return it but i think its a model issue since both of my Netvue Sentry 2 have this issue .I need the rotating option and right now im struggling more to find a camera that with this option at a reasonable price. My Netvue vigil camera doesnt have this problem.

Good product to watch over the home and yard. This latest version has a much wider area and an even clearer picture. Rachel at Netvue has been most helpful if you have any questions. One step that was not clear was the view of the notifications, when you get a hit click on the notification and then it will show what the trigger was and there is a little circle on the bottom of that page and when that it is pressed you can see the before and after event, which took me awhile to learn how to use.

I bought these cameras even though I was reluctant. Halloween night, we set a candy tray out. Sort of like the honor system. We weren’t 30 feet away from these cameras and set them to go off when anyone approach the porch. Brand new memory card, thinking that this camera which is worth absolutely nothing doesn’t inform me of someone approaching our porch. As I said new memory card, but lo and behold just like half of the other cameras I have of the same brand tells me my card once again for about the sixth time tells me that it Has to be formatted. I am so sick of these cameras. If you decide to spend money on these cameras, do not rely on reviewing any video through the memory card. I think that they purposely make it so you half to purchase the cloud. This is not my first review on the same type of camera. They are not weatherproof when it comes to the memory card. If you buy a similar camera where the climate is dry and protected from the elements, they are OK. But if you’re dumb enough to buy these and install them out in the weather after what I’m telling you then go ahead and spend your money. It’s a shame that I can’t send you a video of me beating these cameras with a baseball bat. I’m sorry to be so dramatic however I can’t believe that these cameras have let me down so many times.
