Love the Shoes, musings on my experience with sizing
These sandals protect your feet pretty well, around the house and on trails. They are not as good in that respect of course as solid hiking shoes, but they are an alternative, especially for summer. I will say no more on that, other than after wearing them now for 3 or 4 months I have really grown fond of them, and I am particular about my shoes. Open toe sandals are comfortable, but banging your toes is not, nor is hurting yourself because you wore an unstable shoe.Regarding sizing, my foot is a 12, a pretty standard foot I would say. My foot measures 11 1/4 inches, exactly at the standard size 12 length. I have several pair of these sandals now, both in size 12 and 13. Both sizes work fine for me. I actually think I prefer the 12's, they are a bit more solid on my foot. I expect to wear the 13's more often when it is cold with socks, to give me a little more space. But I can wear the 12's with socks just fine.I have not trouble putting the 12's on or taking them off, just push your foot all the way in and the heel strap will slide on easily. They stretch out after you have worn them awhile, I can't tell much difference between wearing a 13 and a 12. In fact to test myself I put on a pair not knowing the size (I have the same color in both sizes). I guessed that I was wearing the 13 and I was incorrect, I was wearing the 12. I have also walked around with a 12 on one foot and a 13 on the other. I found no major difference between the two feet.I also have the leather version in size 12, they seem just a little bigger than the polyester but not enough to matter much.In summary, at least for me, the issue people have about sizing is very overblown. I would get a 12 1/2 if it existed, but I have often felt that way with other shoes. For me it is either a 12 or 13, and generally I prefer the 12. I have enough toe room in the size 12 of these sandals, they fit fine, around the house, walking trails with my dogs, and of course in the water. They really do dry out fast, If they get wet I just let them dry and put on a different pair.5/5/23....I still feel the same after wearing these pretty much constantly for a few months. You may think that there is not enough toe room because you may feel some sensation at the toe at times. My bigger sized 13's have that same sensation, that is just due to the rubber caps at the toe. I feel no pressure on my toes walking down steep hills, that is the acid test for toe room. I definitely prefer the 12's to the 13's. They stretch out and the 13's can feel just a bit loose. But the 13's are fine, I can wear either with no complaints.

You get what you Pay for
I'm getting ready to head to the tropics next month so I spent considerable time researching water shoes. Keen seemed to be make it to the top 3 in most online reviews. But looking for a more cost effective alternative I looked at other options. I also wanting a shoe that gave me adequate arch support. When I looked at the reviews in Amazon Camel Crown and Atika brands both looked promising. My shoe size is 12.5 and Camel Crown was the only one that had that option thus I though it was going to be the front runner. When the Camel Crown came in it was a little large for me and the arch support I was looking for just wasn't there. The Atika came with an adjustable back strap so that I could customize the fit and it was the clear winner over the Camel Crown. When my Keen Newport's came in I was concerned that it didn't have an adjustable back strap. When I put them on the size 12 fit perfectly and I liked not having to worry about adjusting a back strap. They also appeared to be little more durable then the Atika's and the shoe lace was much thicker (Without testing them in the elements durability is only a visual theory) The biggest selling point was the overall feel on my feet. The Arch support was more pronounced on the Keens which is what I prefer. When I looked at the Keen Newport vs the SOLR one of the notes on the review was that the Newport did provide better Arch Support. I never tested the SOLR so can't verify that but the Newport's are great and I couldn't be happier with the overall fit. I have yet to fully test them on my tropical adventure but thus far they feel great and I find myself wearing them all the time.

Think a larger size -- and still larger
This was part of a very important two-part order for my summer expeditions: hiking sandals and hiking boots. I got size and style just right, but it took some effort. In my small, charming cowboy town I couldn't find exactly the footwear that I need and desire to enter the wilderness of the northern Rockies and high plains. So I went to the local sport stores and tried on the same products in the sizes available.I determined that I must order a pair of sandals in this lovely, sturdy, practical Newport line AT LEAST A SIZE LARGER THAN I NORMALLY WEAR. I usually wear an 11.5 or 12 (U.S.). But I could get my foot in the 12 Newport only with force. Consequently, I ordered the 13. Now my feet are comfortable, and the trails are mine.

Stylish and Sturdy
So, I was recommended the brand by an outdoorsy friend, and took a chance even though this is the most I've ever spent on a pair of shoes in maybe a decade.I LOVE the color and how sturdy they feel. I got them over the weekend and started breaking them in today. Roughing it in some really dilapidated parking lots, I couldn't feel the bumps at all; promising. Length wise, I have wide feet, so while by length I'd need a 7, I got a 10 based on the reviews and size suggestions. I've got about an inch of room at both the toe and heel. The sides feel very snug with socks, not quite pinchy but definitely need to be broken in. I think a 9.5 might have worked if I had more time to break them in for what I need them for. I'm used to room in the front and back since I've been buying bigger shoes my whole life, but for people that expect a snug fit all around you might find this uncomfortable. This is also perhaps not the safest for hiking, but faced with the alternative of permanently pinched feet, I made my choice.Leaving this at 4 stars for now, because one of my laces came with some sort of caked on resin or glue, and they're going to get a trial by fire in a couple weeks, so that'll be the real test for how they hold up.

Excellent book
That’s not about 5.12. That’s about unlimited thinking and preparation for real climbing

An excellent book to push yourself through the grades
This is an excellent book for those who want to push themselves to the next level in climbing -- not even necessarily 5.12, but the next level for you. One thing that surprised me was that there is no discussion of climbing technique at all. Just things like fitness, strength building, and mindset. But that isn't to detract from the book, it has many great tips for progressing as quickly as possible through the grades.
