The best Edition on Chart Patterns Anywhere
This is a reprint of the EXCELLENT 1958 edition. The writing style is magnificent. It looks wordy, but it's actually fun to read, easy to understand, and incredibly interesting. I've tried reading later editions from the library, but they had been "modernized" by the editor to the point that they had become directionless and overly wordy. This edition is strictly on chart patterns. No EMA, Stochastic oscillators, etc. If those are what you want to study, then see stockcharts.com. John Murphy's *Technical Analysis of the Financial Markets* is also an excellent book. His chapters on chart patterns are more modern and direct, and he includes some of the more mathematical indicators you can find at stockcharts.com, at least superficially, but Edwards and Magee [unmodified] is still the best and most readable book on chart patterns, in my opinion.

The best
Reviews were good but just get the book. Read and try to understand it. You will learn a lot from it, I highly recommend this read.

A treasure of knowledge but not for beginners
A lot of the ideas on the book are from before the internet era, thus they are outdated. For this reason I wouldn't recommend it as a primer because you need to know how to distinguish the hay from the gold. On the other hand the book is really a treasure chest of practical technical analysis. It includes most of the tactical ideas you need to place a trade (some of them are outdated too, specially the stops), and it explains them in a very understandable and comprehensive way.

Great book but poor printing quality!
I bought this book for $20, as the latest edition of the same book is $82+, 4 times more than the original book. I could have saved some money by just reading this one, as both are basically the same. The content of the book is excellent. The old masters have presented a collection of chart patterns that are still relevant today. However, the book I received from Amazon seems to be a photocopied version, and the font is very tiny, but I still manage to read the first few chapters. As I progress into the later chapters, I realize that reading the chart figure becomes more challenging, especially the volume details at the bottom. Finally, I gave up and spent another $82+ on the latest 11th edition. I was not able to return this book as the return window's passed. So I end up paying $100+ for both books. The latest edition does have very clear charts and quite easy to read. But the new edition has left out some of the vital edge case charts included in the original book, which I found quite useful. Some of the old masters' valuable comments beneath the charts are either simplified or omitted in the latest edition. The original version has arranged the figures in such a way that they match the surrounding text. However, reading the new version, I have to flip back and forth to refer to the correct figure. The new master also adds some new charts that are useful in illustrating the subjects, but there are also quite a few of them just the screenshots of the software they are using. Some of them do not even have volume info at all. Additionally, there are numerous careless mistakes made throughout the latest edition. The new version has a very narrow margin and impossible to write your own notes and comments. Yet, the old edition has plenty of space to accommodate this.In summary, if you can manage to read this old edition, including the charts. Just keep it as it seems to be more focused and direct. The new version, which is 4 times expensive than this cheaper edition, does have some improvement but not much to its original core value. I wish the publisher can do a better job of reproducing this masterpiece and yet make it affordable to all.
