Thomas' Calculus: Early Transcendentals, Single Variable 13th Edition

About the seller: I received the book very quickly (fulfillment is handled by Amazon) and it was a God-send. This book normally costs between $150 and $250 dollars, depending on the seller. The book was in the condition stated on the webpage (though I would create a new category in between "good" and "fair"... "decent" maybe?) and best of all, it was a tiny fraction of the cost of a new one. I do prefer new books generally, but this gets the job done for the class I need.About the book: Most of the time, you don't have a choice as far as which book you can get for your classes (unless you are buying this for the fun of it). That being said, this is a pretty decent book. It's not fantastic, but it's good. They do explain concepts fairly well and there are examples of real-life applications at the back of each chapter. My main gripe with the book is that you are left to pull from other knowledge not covered in the book to be able to complete some of the chapter exercises. This isn't necessarily a big issue, but the chapters only introduce you to the concepts and give almost no examples of how to actually perform some of the problems in the back. I'd imagine that would be frustrating for those for whom math does not come easily. This little hiccup would be okay if the book also gave you the answers to all of the questions. Like so many of these books, it only gives you the answers to the odd numbered problems. I find myself only doing the odd problems, but then noticing that some of the even problems cover material not addressed in the odd problems. I'm really unsure of why this is a thing. Outside of that, I'm pretty happy with the book.

I usually do not write reviews but this product (and its handling process) deserves all the credit. I received my textbook right on time (yes, even on a Sunday). I placed the order on Thursday this week and got it on Sunday same week! Perfect because my summer Calc 1 class starts tomorrow and now I’m all set! I opened the textbook and no pages were missing or ripped or had anything written on them. So, to whoever that took care of this shipping etc, thank you sooo much!

It was a lot lighter than the hardcover which made it super conscientious when having to carry it around to study. It covered 2 semesters of calculus and luckily when I got to multivariable, my professor didn’t teach from a textbook.

ONLY COVERS UP TO CHAPTER 11:PARAMETRIC EQUATIONS!BE CAREFUL WHEN USING FOR COLLEGE COURSES. i bought this for calc III and was a waste.This is only good for Calculus 1 maybe Calc II depending where you're taking it. I would suggest finding the full Early Transcendentals if you plan on taking Calc II or Calc III.

Just FYI the Single Variable version of this book only has 11 chapters. Many courses (like mine, whoops) require more than that. My roomate's book had 17 whole chapters.However, if that is what you're looking for, this book is light and thin. Paperback was a very nice touch. I was able to carry it around with me everywhere. It came in fair condition and more quickly than anything I've ordered on Amazon.

This was the book my son needed for his calc class. It arrived on time, and should be easy to return (we rented the book).

My main complaint is that I had placed my order January 23rd and will not be receiving my book until February 14th. I am currently using this text in a Calculus course and it's okay. I would recommend supplementing other texts to support many of problems at the end of each section. While thorough in rules it doesn't not provide enough examples for my taste.

gotta love them math books. Can't wait for next year to buy the same book for 300 dollars more
