Excellent Succinct Source for the Concept of Hygge
This book is a great introduction to the concept of hygge. It’s a quick read with easily digestible chapters. The author incorporates a lot of data and research as well as recipes, tips, suggestions and even a craft.

Soothing to the soul
A delightful book about how to enjoy the simple pleasures of life like, cozy socks and a cup of tea. I just purchased this book, but it came highly recommend by Angela Jia Kim, the author of Savor Beauty available here on Amazon. I am reading this book as part of my self care nightly ritual. I do my skincare PM ritual, make a cup of tea, light a candle, turn on some classical music, put on my cozy socks and sink into my cozy bed with this heart warming book. It reminds me to enjoy life, family, friends and still silent moments which are quite calming to the mind, body and soul.

Comfort Food for a Reader
A soft, cozy read regarding happiness and simplicity, warm food and blankets, holiday family get togethers and candles. Lots of candles. The one thing the happiness research institute doesn't seem to take into account in the happiness factor is religion and spirituality. Just think that should probably be included even if many people seem to think it's just an opiate for the poor masses.

The quest for and discovery of happiness
As a modern technology, performance driven, somewhat hedonistic society, we have allowed the tools of our trade, the demands of our jobs, pressures of family life, and competitive mandates to keep up with Joneses, to steal something very special, valuable, and almost undefinable. This little book, that uses at its heart, a word "hygge" that is very hard to pronounce, and somewhat just as hard to adequately define. The book takes off slowly and almost bores the reader as it approaches the revelation of what it means to be happy, satisfied, and pleased. Why is Denmark considered the happiest nation in the world? And really, does the reader really want to know that there is no fast fix, pill or potion to produce the simple path to true, satisfying, and lasting happiness?Somewhere, especially in America, we have lost the pleasure of apple pies baking in the oven, a cat sleeping on the window sill, a wooden rocking chair, a hand-made quilt. There is a weaving, a warp and weft of many strands of varied threads that goes into the production of handmade throws, rugs, wall mountings, etc. ladies sewing circles, quilting bees, even bean snappings all have a charm.Non-competitive gift giving, food sharing, group dynamics that support mutual acceptance, nostalgia, experiences of nature's wonders, and on and on. How do they come together to produce a happy atmosphere, a feeling of warmth and acceptance? This book contains answers to questions that you only knew to ask after reading the book. Vital things have disappeared with modern mass production, synthetics, and fast food.If you take time to allow the author to bring you along through the chapters of the book, struggle trying to pronounce words that are foreign to the American tongue, allow the ghosts of Christmases Easters, birthdays, family gatherings, and happy times to visit your soul as you read this Little Book of Hygge, you will look forward to hearing the faint whispers, seeing the apparitions of what used to be, and developing a desire for things that can be again. You will only fully appreciate this book if you allow yourself the privilege of returning to a simpler time, enjoyed in the company of friends, delving into whatever delicacies you deem appropriate for a hygge experience.

A little sized book with a little explained Danish practice.
As a feng shui practitioner based in the Black Hat Sect and follower of anyone describing ORGANIZATION AND PLACEMENT OR REMOVAL OF STUFF ... and all things "making house into a home" ... I wanted to learn more about HYGGE especially as this is the season of doing this sort of "stuff". The hunkering down. The winter solstice honoring. The candles on. The cozy blanket and the warm wool socks. So that is the essence of the book. There is some sharing of documentation of what other mostly European nations do about practicing this sort of comfortable-ness making. The author is well grounded in HAPPINESS and HYGGE so I thought he would have lots of wisdoms to share. Instead ... not so much. The book is physically tiny and easy to hold and read. The illustrations are adorable. But the meat and potatoes (no pun intended) of the book is a bit underwhelming. Would not order from this author again. Think I get the picture about "what is hygee" already and did not learn a whole lot from this book. Too much personal sharing by the author as to his experiences. Seems like hygee is all about getting together with friends and sharing an alcohol drink, eat chocolates and have a shared time/experience usually at the end of a "quality" shared day. Seems a lot of frosting on a cake (which is also what Hygee is!). A lot of glossing over. Thought "Happiness Institute" would offer a whole lot more of how to do it, what it is and how to improve upon it to bring more to one's soul ... it just fell flat for me. Will try another author. Book came fast from the seller. Would buy from seller again!

Find comfort in everyday life
This book was an excellent reminder on how to find comfort in the every day. There isn't anything new or magical in the suggestions made in this book, but seeing them and finding ways to incorporate them into your life makes self care easier. In our busy lives, we sometimes need a reminder to slow down and enjoy life's simple pleasures, and this book helps with that.

Fun read and a stress buster!
I love this book! It is very easy to read and calming at the same time. It provides simple explanations of what hygge is, why it matters in Danish culture, and how to create hygge for yourself. Since it was such a pleasant read and it covered a lot about hygge, I learned a lot about Danish culture and the quirky things that make hygge so special.I definitely recommend this book to anyone who is curious about hygge and Danish culture, and to anyone who just needs a quick escape from today's world. I like to read this book before going to bed. It's a very peaceful book, and peace is something everyone in this world just needs in light of all of the crazy things going on.We all need some hygge in our lives.
