Q: I normally wear an XL. What size will allow meto wear a sweat shirt or sweater underneath?

The jackets run small so you may want to go up one size.

Q: What about the color? Is the color advertised the color you recieve? Mainly wondering about the coyote tan. Been told its more of a mustard color.

Compared to"true coyote tan" this is a much "greener shade". Not brown/tan, but more of a light "olive" color. I am using a genuine USMC half zip fleece in "coyote tan" for comparison.

Q: I'm 5'8 and 180lbs. with a 34 inch waist. should i get a m or l?

might be a bit snug for height/weight. I am 6" and 160 and large is about right.

Q: How waterproof is it under heavy rain? Do the inside of the pockets stay dry? How warm is it?

It's pretty warm for Temps in the 40-60 degree range, never had it in rain that heavy or that log to know if the pockets would soak through. Only moderately heavy rain for short periods of time and it kept me dry just fine. Rain beads up off of it like rain ex on a windshield. Doubt it's waterproof though, just water resistant.
