University Products Book Binder's Needles- Set of 5

These seem like the most ordinary needles in the world, but I'm sure that's because I'm a neophyte to book binding. I expected something more leather-craft needle-like, or with a larger head for the bookbinding thread, but maybe book thread is not as thick as I was thinking (you can see I'm an utter cheechako at this -- see Robert Service for definition). The package is fine, comes in a folding paper envelope, which I had to tape up after opening for fear of losing the needles. I think a regular "paper" of needles would work better. Reasoning: I sat on a needle in an ottoman once, the needle pointing straight up, causing me to leap in the same general direction, and I immediately extricated it from deep in my gluteus maximus with one hand while holding a plate of potluck meal with the other hand while also yelling, in my adolescent awkwardness wearing plaid polyester slacks, no less, and my host, an elegant and refined orchestra teacher with hair brushed back in a Karajan-like wave laughed so joyously that it became a joy to me too. But still, I'm sensitive about lost needles.

These needles are great - they have a nice big eye, making them very easy to thread. They are sturdy, heavy enough to get the job done, but small enough that you won't have to struggle to push them through. Great for any sort of binding. I use them mostly for coptic bindings.

These needles were labelled "blunt", but they were in fact extremely sharp when they arrived. I just blunted them on a whetstone, rather than going through the hassle of a return. the eye shape and size is perfect for binding though, and it's a good stiff needle.

I am pleased to have received these bindery needles. Perfect for book construction without worrisome bending and sewing needles present. Certainly not hefty as upholstery needle either - which is exactly what I was in the market for. I would definitely order products from this manufacturer again. And only through Amazon, too!

These needles are just what I wanted - they are real bookmaking needles, strong and sharp. It saved me a bunch of time going to the story to get more of them. Will definitely order these again when I need to - but I think these needles will stay sharp for a while!

Works for my needs

Were small needles the size of our regular sewing needles. No description of size was given. It cannot be used to stitch books.
