I love this book!
The media could not be loaded. I just started this adventure but this is perfect for such. I love that it’s a spiral book so that I can keep the book open, the page quality is wonderful, and everything is simple and easy to understand. It’s easy to carry if need be and a compact size too. I have no complaints whatsoever. It also came at an affordable price too.

This has become my all around “go to” canning book.
It is clearly written and has easy to follow instructions on preparation and the process. Lots of basic recipes with several variations and a good place to find ideas for new recipes. Good “tips”, “how-to” and step by step instructions. Just the right amount of detail. There are notes on allowable substitutions and deviations for each recipe. Also, in many cases, the author explains the tested recipes vs the “old way” and why they are different. Processing times and methods, in the recipes I’ve used, are in sync with my Ball & Presto books. Each page has a space provided for “Notes”. I always jot my notes in the margin of my recipes on when I used the recipe, how it turned out and any changes I made. Using the notes space keeps my book overall neater and easier to reference.I especially like the last chapter on Soups & Stews. The recipes are just basic and simple. I like being able to make up a batch of something to see how it works before committing time and space to canning it. It’s good to know that if something is a hit and there are left overs, there is no problem canning it.

For a novice
I ordered the book as it said it had many hot water bath articles. While it does have some this is more geared to a novice canner and pressure canning. The recipes are very simple, easy and very well written out. Easy to understand all steps. I'd recommend to anyone new to canning. Just did not have what I wanted as I grew up as did both my now passed parents on alllll things hot water canned, pickled or fermented - including many canned meats. None of us died or got sick. There was no such thing as a 'Pressure Canner' back in the 'early days.' LOL Cleanliness and proper cooking times were adhered to and we all ate extremely well and lived to tell about it. If you are new to preserving food - it's a good book to get you started.

It's awesome
Easy to follow, clear instructions. Separated between water bath and pressure canning. I wish I could find a pressure canner!
