How do you get the most accurate temperature readings for your dog?

Best place to get a reading is the least hairy part of your pet which is one of two places.. first is the ear and second is the belly.

How can I get the most consistent results? A lot of the reviews complain of inconsistency

I found the best way to use this device, was to direct it toward the leg crease. It worked great for me, I hope that it works for your pet.

Will this work for cats?

this could possibly work for cats BUT it's only accurate if it's on a part of a DOG or CATS body that has very little hair like belly or ears). IF you take a temp on part of the dog or cat's body with hair, the hair is going to block the sensor and it wont take the right temperature reading.

Is this suitable for cats?

I use this on my dogs ears. As long as you can get a place like the ears of your cat then yes this will work.
