As good as a Second Oven in our house.
Our old toaster oven was squealing its convection fan somewhere in a b# tone that drove the family nuts. Finally decided to look for a replacement and I wasn't sure I really 'needed' an air-fryer solution combined with the functionality we've used for years. Boy was I wrong! Compared to the air-fryers I've seen at friends and family, I really liked that this looks and functions as a toaster oven that also includes the air-fryer feature.Easy to use as there are several modes of cooking you select with a dial, then a timer (also a dial) and then push start. I've used it to cook chicken legs (a whole 12 pack) with the air-fryer feature and they turned out great after a few experiments with timing and an instant read thermometer.I like that it's big enough to hold an entire casserole dish, which allows us to cook side dishes while our single oven is focused on the larger or more demanding cooking tasks. I consider this to be as effective as a second oven, with space as the only compromise over a full-sized option. The one downside I would comment on is that there isn't a temperature probe to help with identifying when something is cooked to the correct temperature. This is especially missed with the air-fryer feature being a new addition to our cooking repertoire. For example, I tried using an online airfryer chicken leg recipe to judge how long and at what temperature to cook at; but my instant temp thermometer ended up requiring that I double the time I originally set (not the fault of the oven, just unfamiliar with the function.) I also miss not having a rotisserie feature that our last toaster oven had. I am that odd-ball that used the rotisserie to cook whole chickens and pork tenderloins. Not having that wasn't a deal breaker, and we knew we weren't getting that feature, so nothing taken away from the product that does a great job at what it does. Oh, and one last thing - air frying take a considerable amount of time to warm up (okay, "considerable" is subjective), most noticeable after the timer stops and temp check says it needs to go some more - which surprisingly came with another preheat cycle. However, having never owned an air-fryer before, I'm not sure if this is standard to all air-frying units or not; again not a deal breaker or even a detractor from a 5-star rating, just something new to us.

I couldnāt be happier with this Breville!
Iāve had this oven a little over a month now, and I love it! It replaces my Cuisinart Convection Steam Oven ā two years into owning that toaster oven, the steam option died, so I was left with convection bake, and broil, and toast. This Breville is miles ahead in my opinion.I cook a lot, I bake a lot. If I can use both my Bosch oven and my toaster oven, Iām happy. If I can use only the toaster oven, Iām even happier (doesnāt heat the house up as much, the energy consumption is less). Iāve roasted a whole chicken, made air fryer chicken nuggets and chicken parmesan, roasted mixed vegetables, made air fryer sweet potato fries, roasted nuts in the shells, baked 3 types of cookies and 1 cake, 2 batches of muffins (3rd came out today, house smells like cinnamon), baked beans, and well⦠a lot of cooking in the past month. Oh, and toast and bagels every morning! Iāve used the Roast, Bake, Broil, Air Fryer, Toast, Bagel, Cookies (yes, cookies!), and Proof settings. What I love about the Breville:*The knob controls. My Cuisinart used 1 knob for primary controls ā multiple controls. The Breville is so user friendly ā my non-cooking husband has no problems figuring it out. The controls and buttons are all labeled and easy to understand.*Itās spacious for a toaster oven. I mean, toaster ovens shouldnāt be overly huge, they need to fit on a counter. I can fit 2 medium casseroles (reheating is such a joy with this oven!). I can fit my 12-muffin pan in it. I can fit a small roast and a small whole chicken in it.*It has a dedicated convection button. Love that and so easy to use. It has a āphaseā button. You can set it to brown a roast, then bake (or roast) it. I often need to broil after I bake something, and thatās what the phase is for ā does it after you program it, automatically. 2 different cooking methods and temps and times, one time setting.*It has a countdown timer which shuts the oven off. Some like this, some donāt. I do. I will still use a separate timer, and often set the oven a little longer than needed ā but, you can always add time, or change the temperature while you are cooking. You donāt have to stop the oven to do this.*It stops the timer when you open the door. Thank you, Breville. You get it.*Itās a toaster oven and makes great toast! Nice and crunchy outside, softer inside. Settings for light to dark and setting for number of slices. Do keep in mind, a larger toaster oven will take a bit longer to toast than a very small one.*Air fryer⦠I didnāt want another item to store. But we are trying to eat healthier. While this isnāt a dedicated air fryer and might not have quite the power, weāve really enjoyed our crispy chicken nuggets and chicken parm, the crisp of the sweet potato fries (took me a while to get the timing and method right, but wowsers!). Comes with a really nice sized air fryer basket. I spray it with a bit of olive oil, and find even if cheese gets stuck on, a soak in sudsy water and a quick rub with a stainless steel cleaning pad makes it sparkle again.*Oh, and the magnet on both sides of the door ā itās for the air fryer basket, which can get very hot⦠so when you open the door the air fryer basket gets pulled out a ways for you. I love the person who came up with that brilliant idea!*Comes with a pizza pan (havenāt used that yet) and a roasting pan, which oddly, I have used for the first time in my life. I line it with foil or parchment, and the weight of it is perfect for baking fish, chicken, or roasting veggies. Anything, really.*Iāve set this under an 18ā high cabinet (standard) and after 1-1/2 hours baking, and finishing with a quick broil, the cabinet underside has not gotten overheated.*I love the crumb tray/removable bottom. Many toasters have this now. I lined mine with a 500 F Teflon oven mat (purchased on Amazon, of course), in case I get any drips or messes. Easy to clean!*It preheats very quickly with a clear flashing āpreheatingā text, and an alarm tells you itās time to put your food in, and another lets you know when the time is up (plus the interior light comes on just before, so you can take a look at the progress).Honestly, I could go on and on. Iāve found no negatives thus far. I find myself saying each time I use it: "I love this oven!". Highly recommend!
