Works well. Knob is awkward.
I used this switch to control the speed of a 12V DC water pump. It worked well. However, the tapered knob is hard to grasp and there is no good way to mount the switch. It's not too bad if you want an in-line control that you hold in one hand while you turn the knob with the other hand.

Inline PWM 12 Volt 2 Amp Dimmer for LED Strips with DC Jack, 3318 from Ledwholesalers
This LED dimmer works well enough and if inside use is intended it will suffice. Even with DC power, it should not be used outside, due to corrosion and damage issues associated with water and dirt. I mounted outside a panel and took the wires inside to the Power supply. Two sided tape works well, since the wires were terminated inside the box and the holes sealed with silicone. The panel is handy to the use area and wires to led strips come out of the bottom of the panel. It worked well to keep the power on the supply at about 75% of total available to help with power supply longevity intent. I've used several dimmers and for the price this is a good dimmer. I like it at $3.

These work great
These work great and can easily be plugged into a power supply to control the level of brightness in your LED projects. I am using five of them.I found the below LED lighting configuration to work very well and even an amateur like me had success:US plug AC 100-240V To DC 12V 2A Power Supply Converter Adapter for Led Lights StripstoInline PWM 12 Volt 2 Amp Dimmer for LED Strips with DC Jack by Ledwholesalers , 3318toHitLights LED PCB Strip to DC Transformer Plug Connector, 2 Conductor, Any Angle Turn, For SMD35toHitLights LED Flexible Lighting Strip Warm White, 5 Meter or 16 Ft, 3528 Type, 300 SMD, 24 Wattto18 gauge speaker wire (soldered)tomore LED's (soldered)I did not want ugly black and red wires between LED strips to show at any point so I used the speaker wire since it blends in and the positive/negative wires are held together by plastic/rubber. Also, I have never soldered anything in my life but was able to solder the wire to the end of the LED strips with very little pain.I hope you find this review helpful. I wanted to post the parts that I used since they all seem to work together very well.

Good for LEDs, No so much for motors
This PWM Controller works quite well, but has some pitfalls. When used for LEDs, like it is mainly designed for, it works rather well: the control knob changes brightness rather smoothly, and if you rotate it CCW all the way, a switch turns the output off. If, however, you want to use this PWM controller for other things - motors and fans, you may get annoyed - the PWM frequency is 1kHz - well within human hearing, and relatively high pitched. Because of that, when you use this controller for speed control of a motor or fan, the motor or fan will emit the 1kHz signal. However, this controller is cheap enough that for me, i don't mind the sound (i use it to control the draft fan of a smoker). If you can't get past the sound, you'll want to upgrade to a PWM controller that mentions motors on its Amazon page.

Useful for LED strips
I bought this to control the brightness of LED lighting strips hidden above the crown molding in our recreation room. It snaps right in without modification, its 2.1mm power connectors (1 male, 1 female) matching most of the pre-made lighting strips available here on Amazon. It is more rugged than the last one we used, which after a while allowed the rheostat contained inside to spin with the knob and tearing it loose from its connecting wires. It could use a mean of attaching it to the wall to be included, but I found a strip of foam double sided tape did a great job.

Not very useful...
This dimmer is designed to reduce the voltage that feeds the IR controller, not the voltage that comes out of the controller and feeds the lights. The controller is designed to run on 12vdc, and while it may be able to operate at voltages below that, there will be a threshold at which it stops working. When you hit this point, the PWM signal that is modulating the LEDs will become ragged, and the lamp operation will become erratic. The no-load voltage out of my power supply is 12.45vdc, I found that the controller becomes erratic at about 11vdc, which happens at about 30% travel of the dimmer dial. The LED strand I have is a multi-colored LED in a single housing. Starting from "white" (all colors at full intensity) when the 11vdc threshold is hit, the blue LED shuts off, leaving red & green, and the controller stops responding to the remote. The net result of using this dimmer is that I can reduce the brightness of the strand by appx 20% more than you can with the digital controller. If this is enough for your situation, then this is an okay buy. For me, it wasn't enough.Overall, I wouldn't recommend this purchase.

Dimmers for 12 volt LED light strips
We wanted an indirect soft lighting system that wouldn't keep burning out like rope lighting. So, we converted to LED light strips, which were easy to install. However, these light strips were too bright. This problem was easily solved with this dimmer, which simply plugs into a transformer which reduces 110 volts to 12 volts. The other end of the dimmer receives the plug on the end of the light strips. Problem solved: longer lasting, cooler lighting system yielding a warm light when fully dimmed.

PWM LED 12v 2w dimmer works as expected
The LEDwholesalers inline PWM LED dimmer works well. It has a good dimming range and on/off switchThe output connector did not exactly match the existing one on my LED strip but I was able to cut it off and splice the leads directly.A replacement LED strip connector that will match this dimmer exactly is available. For DIYers, the cover on this dimmer can easily be unscrewed and input and/or output leads replaced to customize your connections.
