The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG, Depuffing Eye Serum for Dark Circles and Tired Eyes

I’ve been using this eye serum for over 4 years, especially during winter, and it has become an essential part of my routine. As a physician, I can confidently say this product works wonders—particularly after night shifts. Despite its lightweight, water-like texture, it does not dry out the delicate under-eye area. I’ve never experienced pilling, and it layers perfectly under concealer and makeup. The serum is fragrance-free, which is a huge plus for sensitive eyes. After application, there is a noticeable tightening effect that helps reduce puffiness and the tired look almost instantly. This is exactly why I reach for it after sleepless nights—it visibly refreshes and awakens the under-eye area. In terms of longevity, the depuffing effect lasts for several hours, making a real difference throughout the day. A small amount goes a long way, so one bottle lasts a long time. Although a little greasy, this is simple to use and leaves your skin feeling incredibly smooth! This is my first bottle, and I use it sparingly to lessen puffiness around my nose and on my upper eyelids. It is lightweight, has a fresh scent, and is a maze-yellow color. I was worried because I was using a lot of oily products from The Ordinary, but I only mixed a small amount into my fingertips. My puffiness was fingerpainted away!

I got messed up with expensive products and decided to try good ol ordinary i was not disappointed!!! my first the ordinary product was squalane oil, and I was happy with it so I ordered this for my eyes. I am 24, so no terrible wrinkles yet, just darkness around the eyes from constant tiredness and puffiness (family thing). The product is lightweight and does not feel cheapy, feels like a good quality product. I tried this morning for the first time, and left my skin makeup free for a while because I wanted to see results. I was impressed with results I saw for one time use. My lids and undereyes definitely appeared brighter. Will try to leave a review after a month of use.

I've had this Ordinary Caffeine Solution (OCS) for four months now, so am able to give it a fair assessment. Let me first say that I appreciate The Ordinary for providing some excellent ingredients in their line of products while also offering them at affordable prices. Thank you! Insomnia runs in both sides of my family. On top of that, I worked the overnight shift for decades, and I'm no Spring chicken! My eye bags have their own bags! I've tried all kinds of products and ingredients, some offering temporary benefits while others made no difference. I have sensitive, oily, acne-prone skin. This OCS is gentle enough that it neither irritates my skin nor my eyes. I like that it's NOT a cream. Creams leave a shiny ring wherever I apply it, despite gently tapping it in and allowing it to dry. This OCS is a slightly thick liquid with a pale beige hue to it. It absorbs well and doesn't leave any greasy, shiny residue after application. It works well at reducing the puffy eyes. I keep it in the fridge as the cold supposedly enhances the depuffing effect. I use it consistently and will sometimes layer it underneath another, thicker eye cream at night for added effects. Just a little dab under the eyes and under my eyebrow, then gently tapping it in to spread around with my ring finger until it's absorbed. I'm guessing you know never to rub the delicate skin under the eyes. Although I've had this OCS for 4 months, I've still got about 2/3's of the bottle remaining. For the effectiveness AND the price, it's worth it. I currently have 2 other eye care products and at 7 times higher the price...yet this OCS gives me better results.

Love this!! In fall/winter my face always gets a weird texture; it reminds me of alligator texture. It’s awful. I’ve tried all the serums/essences/barrier creams etc. I bought this for my undereyes and without thinking one morning spread it all over my face. Noticed later that day my texture felt improved. Kept using it all over my face. It’s AWESOME!!! I live in NY; it’s WINTER and yet, no funky skin texture for the first time in years!! I could probably just purchase the main oil ingredient elsewhere but why, when this isn’t expensive, it works and a bottle lasts several months?! I’m a customer for as long as this is being sold!! Also, there’s NO scent which I love!!

Tired of overpriced caffeine sticks that lasted very little and did not work as fast/good, I decided to try this solution from a brand I trust for other products. I use it as part of my skin care routine before bed and before work in the morning. My skin was not sticky (I use very little and pat it down) I noticed that it preserved the moisture in my skin and the puffiness was reduced considerably and I am happy with that. For the dark circles I use a brightener. If this solution improves my under eyes skin tone, I will update my review in the future. In the meanwhile, I can say that it works better than the caffeine sticks.

I have genetic dark circles that get worse when I don’t get enough sleep. I’ve used tons of undereye creams and serums, mostly with middling results. I saw a lot of recommendations online for this one, and due to the low price, I decided to give it a shot. It seems to work okay on the dark circles — it’s not a miracle product, but I noticed a slight difference using it as directed in the morning and at night. However, there was one major issue: within a couple days of starting to use this product, my right eye started twitching at random throughout the day. At first, I didn’t connect the dots. I was in the middle of a busy workweek. I had to wake up much earlier than usual for work or appointments most days. I was also spending more time staring at my laptop screen between work and writing. I figured the twitching was a result of stress and all these other factors — until I decided to do some digging online. I found multiple Reddit threads of other people complaining about eye twitching while using this product. It has to do with the concentration of caffeine in it. (I only drink one cup of coffee a day and rarely have caffeinated sodas, so those weren’t an additional factor.) I discontinued use of this product immediately. The results weren’t good enough to put up with a twitching eye. I’m glad this serum was only $9 and I’m not out a ton of money. I know this product is beloved by a lot of people, but my advice is to proceed with caution.
