Excellent for use with maps
This Silva style compass is excellent when plotting headings on a map. I used it to teach compass and map to a group of Royal Rangers during a Survival Training Trails.

I bought this to learn how to use a compass
bought this compass to learn how to use one. I was going to buy a super cheap one at first, but then I thought that maybe I should spend a little more and get something of decent quality. For me, this thing was well worth a 5 star review. It's easy to read, fairly durable, and it has a lanyard so that I don't lose it.

Works like it should
Points to magnetic north though my son and I reveresed the polarity while playing with a magnet and made the other end point north. I was able to fix it with the same magnet and it’s pointing where it’s sopose to again
