I bought the PNY Pro Elite V2 1TB USB 3.2 Gen 2x1 Type-C Portable SSD on June 23, 2025, and it completely died today — less than 4 months later. There was no warning at all. At first, Windows could still eject it, even though it didn’t show up in Disk Management or AOMEI Partition Assistant, which meant the drive itself had failed. I took a screenshot as proof. I’ve attached that screenshot showing Windows Disk Management. You’ll notice the PNY drive is completely missing — no partitions, no recognition. Yet the eject menu still appears, confirming that Windows detects something is connected, even though the drive is totally non-functional. This phantom behavior strongly suggests the failure happened at the controller level, not just a corrupted partition. Not long after that, it got worse — it stopped ejecting altogether, and now the system doesn’t respond at all when it’s plugged in. It’s completely dead. I expected better reliability from a known brand like PNY. I could understand this from a cheap, no-name drive, but not from a trusted company. I took great care of it, only plugging it in when needed, so this sudden failure makes no sense. To make things worse, I’m starting cancer treatment isolation on October 22, and this was the drive I was setting up with my games and virtual machine projects to use for studying and keeping my mind occupied during treatment. I had recently deleted everything to start fresh, and now the drive itself is gone — making this experience even harder. Unless PNY replaces it under warranty, I have to call this drive a major disappointment. It’s heartbreaking to lose both my plans and my trust in a product I thought would last. Please advise on replacement options under warranty. I need a reliable solution as I begin treatment.
