Bush Furniture, 2 shelves, Fairview Hutch for Computer Desk in Antique Black

This applies to the Bush Desk Hutch, Bush 5-shelf bookcase, and Bush lateral file drawer. Assembly of the 3 pieces involved very many pieces with hundreds of screws and dowels. Nothing was missing and every piece fit perfectly. We have books on the bookcase with no sag. The file drawers work very smoothly. The instructions were clear. Many steps, each piece took 2 to 3 hours with my wife and me working together. The pieces are generally particle board, but a "nice" particle board if such a thing exists. The trim pieces are MDF. Tighten the screws, but don't over tighten (avoid the temptation to use a drill or impact driver; a ratcheting screwdriver is your friend). Use extra glue. They have a lot of screws and brackets, and the finished products are pretty sturdy. They would not survive a long-distance move, they're not that sturdy. But for light use in a home office or spare room they're fine. Biggest complaint -- the backs of the hutch and bookcase are just cardboard. Looks ok, but just cheesy. How much more would it cost to use 1/8" particle board? But bottom line -- they are somewhat better than we expected for the price. Good value.

Had to order new part because only 2 of 6 holes were drilled. Called Thursday night at 7:00pm and part came quickly on Sunday and probably would have been here Saturday except for a snow storm. I was pleased and surprised it came so fast. The only other issue was the back board. It is slightly smaller than the width of the hutch. So you had to carefully make sure you evenly positioned board while nailing. if back board was exactly the same width as the hutch it would have been a lot easier. Otherwise I am completely satisfied with the hutch

My husband and I are 74 years old, so we hired a nice young handyman to assemble both the hutch and the desk. He mentioned it took him longer than he thought to assemble it. He charged $150 to assemble both pieces and ti attach the hutch to the back of the desk. He ran into some spots where the screw holes were not predrilled, so he had to drill his own. There’s no way my husband and I could have assembled these two pieces. If you’re a great do it yourself person, you would still need an assistant to help you assemble these.We do love the hutch and attached desk because it exactly matches our Kathy Ireland file cabinet we bought a while back. We’re happily using the desk each day because we have our computer and monitor set up there. It’s pretty sturdy for our needs. Our home office looks nice with this desk and hutch. I recommend these items, but be sure you get someone experienced to assemble them for you just in case there’s a construction issue from the manufacturer.

Nice looking. Do not like the way it connects to desk. Measurements in directions are incorrect. If you have to move it, better be carefull or the hutch can completely fall off backwards. Happened to me, had to order new one.

This is a very nice hutch for the price. It's not an excellent quality, but then, it's not an expensive piece. It is a great addition to my office. For the price I am extremely pleased. I would definitely recommend.

The back is a flimsy cardboard. That can tear easily.

I love this office furniture! Classic and antique looking, great quality construction, yet easy to assemble. Fantastic product for the price!!!! I would highly recommend!
