It is washable but I wouldn’t machine wash, if you want your work to last. If you had to, it would have to be put in lingerie bag on delicate cycle, lay on a laundry rack to dry. Hope this helps.

It is a vibrant purple. It might be called "grape", other places.

Q: Is this yarn good for crochet hook #5.5?

That depends on your pattern, stitch tension and what the end result will be for your project. 5.5 mm for this yarn is large for this weight of yarn, unless you want a loose stitch pattern. I think the recommended hook is 4.25mm or G hook, maybe even an F hook, all depends on your project. I know it’s boring to do but if the pattern has a 4x4 gauge, do a test gauge to make sure the length and height of your project is correct.
