Purchased this instead of the highly advertised item @ $69.00 and this one worked well enabling me to recover files from my non-working old-laptop hard-drive (HD.) Removed the old HD and plugged it in to device hooked up power and USB cords and there were my old files with my thousands of pictures.

Needed to access files from an old PATA ide drive so I purchased this item. Plugged everything in and it works. Only note I would make is to plug everything in then plug USB into computer BEFORE you power it on. Found that device was not recognized (win10) if the power switch was turned on. This may be in the manual idk I threw that away without reading it. 🙄

I have a pile of old hard drives that I have gathered over the years. I bought this go through them and see which still functioned and had things on them and which ones did not. I worked easily even with the older IDE drives. Sadly most of the drives were non-operable.

Had a few old HDDs sitting around, so got this to check them out. Found all kinds of pictures, vid clips and documents I forgot I had. Especially pics of my late mom. 2 drives worked great. The third didn't even spin up, but that was a Master drive that crashed, so I didn't have high hopes, just enough that maybe it would work as a slave. Even got an old DVD drive to work.

The connection sockets are very tacky and fragile - you’ll never be sure it’s connected properly. When it does connect, it is good for the price.

Great Value of the $$! Lets me easily and quickly attach/remove any New older IDE and other Hard Drives or equipment I've owned and kept over the years no matter how antiquated! Was fairly self-explanatory how to connect everything up, but the provided instructions would be of help to anybody not in the know. The Leds, while a little redundant, are a nice add (but not necessary). You either know, or don't whether your drive or equipment works or not. Its pretty obvious. when you plug in a new drive, it appears in your HD list, or it doesn't. IF by chance it doesn't, ALWAYS be sure to double check on another PC! You could simply have a stubborn plug or a bent pin, bad cable, Bad HD etc. Anyhow, for $ this is a MUST HAVE to connect older (and new) equipment to your pc, easily without a lot of grief! 5 Stars!
