Hasegawa Ladders, Lucano Step Stool, Wide 3 Step, ANSI Certified, White

MADE IN JAPAN... States this on the box, looking at the top handle, over on the left in the black box. Might be THE BEST THING i've bought from Amazon since I opened my account years ago. Haven't used it yet but I think it's rated for 300 lbs... and as long as my girlfriend doesn't get on it, it should be fine. I'm only 200. It's beautiful. Highly recommend the "wide" version. It looks like a piece of art. The side blades feel like plastic and probably are. Everything else is aluminum. Opposite lower step is not a step and warning says not to step on it. Its very nice that you just lift up the ladder and it closes nicely. If you don't want this to happen you just grab the rounded area under the opposite step and that keeps it open as you walk. The box was beat up and looked like it was opened. The inner soft bag was torn and appeared to have been opened. I inspected the ladder and didn't see any marks so I am not going to return it like I always do at Amazon for a previous opened box. It's too nice a ladder. Finally, I emailed Hasegawa to check to makes sure this is made in Japan. They said it was and told me they would contact WS to correct their "Made in China" statement on their sales page. This also won the Red Design award for 2012 and the German Design award for 2014. I regularly replace outsourced items in my home with quality designs, jUST LIKE THIS. It is so nice I set it up in my living room where it will stay until I get tired of looking at it. If you appreciate great design and functional quality items, then this is the ladder you want. The only think you should consider is if you want to by the bling shiny gold one for your master closet. I might get one of those when I'm done renovating that closet as it is beautiful as well. I have no association with Amazon nor Hasegawa. I am just replacing outsourced trash with great functional simple designs. The last thing I'll say is you know when a company is competent and thinks about everything they do. Have you ever bought a water bucket from HD and gotten home to find the entire side of the bucket has a glued on sticker that won't come off.... even with acetone! Hasegawa used about 7 clear stickers with white writing on them to label this ladder. EVERY ONE OF THEM PEELED OFF SLOWELY AND LEFT NO RESEDUE ON THE LADDER. You know the company is doing it right when they even consider the sticker glue. Absolutely perfect!

So nice to look at and sturdy

This is a really beautiful and sturdy ladder. I would have given it 5 stars, but the structure is not as compact (slim) as I had hoped when it is not in use. From the photo I could not tell how wide the legs are.

This is truly a well-made ladder and quite sturdy. Note, however, that it is NOT small and lightweight. The other models probably are, but they don't have the wider steps and handle. So, you are paying a lot for this due to the way it is made and the design, and it's made in Japan and not China. Very high quality.
