Wow!! I used this MonoGimbal head for the first time the other day with my Benro MAD38C carbon fibre monopod, my Sony a9 and 100-400GM and the Wimberley replacement lens foot. Previously I had been using a lighter weight carbon fibre monopod screwed directly into the lens foot. I LOVE this combination!! The MonoGimbal head is light weight, well-built and simple to use, and wonderfully fluid in motion. It took me very little time to learn to use the Monopod mounted at the side instead of underneath the lens. First I tried the rig with the MonoGimbal mounted on the left side of the lens, and found that the lens foot got in the way of adjusting the switches on the lens. I shifted the MonoGimbal to the right side and perfect!! Now when birds go straight up and over my head, I can follow em with ease. I found this rig easy to hike with too, by resting the lens across the back of my shoulders, with the monopod resting on my right shoulder. I would highly recommend this MonoGimbal head to anyone who spends hours at a time using a telephoto lens and prefers a portable, lightweight support system (as opposed to carrying around a full-sized tripod and gimbal).

I saw a few people using the Wimberley MH-100 at our local nature reserve and looked so practical. Looking in to it, it was expensive, more than I wanted to spend. :( Anyway, I decided to get one, and my, I am so impressed. :) Is it just a coincidence that over the last couple of months I have had some of my best ever photos of birds in flight? I don't thinks so! It balances the lens perfectly (Canon RF 100-500). It is so easy to pan the camera with the MH-100. Easy to move around. Much more control than with a ball head or traditional pan & tilt head. More flexible than a full gamble. It is very well made, a little heavy, but solid. I am sure it will last for many years. Why did I not get one before?
