Petrainer Additional Dog Training Collar for PET998DRU Shock Collar

The unit works great separately. Customer service did a great job with helping us regarding programming 2 receives to one transmitter. The company sent us another transmitter and receiver. Unfortunately after multiple attempts, we are still not able to put 2 receivers on one transmitter. However the transmitters and receivers work great independently for each of our dogs.

Be aware this product does require quite a bit of training to be effective. I purchased this collar strictly as an off-leash re-call aid (when the dog is distracted or selectively hard of hearing) and not as a correction tool - so my training method may be different than others. I have two dogs; one picked up on the concept quite easily (and usually the beep or vibrate is enough to get his attention), the other is younger and didn't get the hang of it when I tried to train her; I will try again when she is older. The device itself works quite well and I have no complaints with it. I did test it out on myself, first, to feel the effects of the different levels. One thing to keep in mind, this device does not use the same levels as other brands. If you are trying to get a feel for how to use an e-collar for the first time, you may do as I did and watch some You Tube videos -- most of the brands that I saw said that a level 10 -15 (with a max of 100 available) was more than enough for most dogs. I personally felt nothing at that level -- and had to bring it up to at least 25 to even feel a very slight sensation. I contacted the seller and was told they have toned down the stimulation level on this device. Because of this, I do have to up the level for it to be effective -- which I don't think is good for certain types of training - and it leaves very little leeway in case of an emergency. For that, I gave it 4 stars - otherwise, it appears to work well, battery stays charged for quite a few months without re-charging. I like that it allows me to have separate levels for two dogs and with just a press of the button it is ready for either dog, at their last level of stimulation. For the price -- and maybe a bit more work than the more expensive units would need -- it is a great tool. But remember, this is training aid -- not a form of punishment; keep a positive attitude during training - with lots of treats for re-enforcement.

This paired perfectly with our existing transmitter. Can now handle both dogs with one remote. Seems most people who have issues are buying the wrong receiver for their transmitter model. Similar model numbers aren't the same as exact model numbers. If your transmitter is the model indicated for this listing you should have no problems with this receiver.

I have purchased several items of this same brand. Many collars lasted longer than others. Had to replace one only because it was damaged frm a high fall. When I replaced it with this one I didn't know the company upgraded the collar. Love that it can be turned off and on now to not waste charge and can be charged with a USB!

I previously purchased the petrainer collar a With remote. The collar clip broke so I decided to order this additional dog. Thank goodness it comes with its own charging cord as this newer model has the charging port in a different location. It's actually better as the other one is a design flaw since you have to remove the collar from the receiver every time you want to charge. My only complaint is that the collar does not fit well into the plastic guards in the receiver. It's almost impossible to get it on. Mine still is not on all the way.

Great product and great service, any one says different is using alternative facts. These are already Great! I have had a few problems with these collars, for instance on the first set I bought I twisted the small screw attachment off. The company Petrainer replaced it pronto even though it was my lack of experience that caused problem. Petrainer stands solid for their products!!! That I guarantee .

I was directed here by the company when asking to buy a replacement PET998DRB1 collar, as I had misplaced my original one but didn't want to pay for a new remote when mine still worked fine. Unfortunately, I found out once the collar arrived that it most definitely did not work with the remote I had as it refused to pair. I messaged the seller, who was kind enough to apologize for the mixup and sent the proper remote for the new collar. This would have been a fine solution, if not for the fact that this collar absolutely refuses to hold charge for longer than a few hours, and I have to pair it with the remote every time it dies. It makes using this training collar an absolute nightmare for dog and owner, because it only works half the time when I go to use it to correct a behavior. Consistency is key for training, so this has made the training take so much longer than it should. After this experience, I've learned that it pays to just save up and purchase a higher end training collar that has a better battery. If you can remember to take this collar off and charge it every night then maybe this is an okay choice for you, but it definitely doesn't work for my forgetful self.
