Are the spacers 1/4 inch wide?

They are wedge shaped. The widest part is 1/4 in while the narrow end is 1/8 in. They also have interlocking ridges which allows you to put them together to for spaces more than 1/4 in. The manufacturer of my flooring required a 3/8 in space which was easily achieved by using two spacers locked together.

How do I use the spacers if I need 3/8”? The spacers are nowhere near that size

They are tapered, just put two together and adjust to any width.

Is this kit good for vinyl plank flooring?

Sort of.. If you have a thick vinyl plank, the hammer 🔨 will wear out fast. The tapping block is useless, it’s basically thin plastic box. I could go on but you get the picture. It’s really for a small project.

Does the mallet heavy enough for my flooring installation?

Yes,it is 40 diameter of the mallet head and weight is about 1.2 lb.
