Exactly what I was looking for. Good size, quality is good, packaging was great, no weird smell at all like some reviews stated. The inside is unpolished as I wanted since grinding works better in that condition. Highly recommended.

These are beautifully made and very functional. They are the perfect shape and depth to be able to pound spices without them hopping over the rim if they bounce, and are heavy enough not to slide while grinding, yet not so heavy that they are hard to use. Overall, I love them (I used to have the white version of these). The head of the pestle could be a little larger--might save a little time--but they are shaped well for the curve of the morter. I did expect the exterior shine to be solely from polishing, but judging by a few blemishes, detectable with fingertips (not very visible) it seems it must be a clear coat of sorts. Overall, I love these and highly recommend them. //UNFORTUNATELY, the unfinished surface (very helpful for grinding friction) also picks up odors somewhat readily, and this came in reeking of some sort of scented cleaning product. Heavily scented dish soap? Sanitizer? It was pretty strong when I pulled it out of the box, but got even worse when I wet it down to wash before using. HORRIBLE SMELL, plus, who wants that contaminating their food and mixing up with their spice flavors??? Ugh. //Sadly, I think it must be something to do with the Amazon warehouse or how they handle them. I exchanged it for another (same item) and it had the same problem, though less intense. Overall, I tried 3 different units from 2 different vendors of this same item (all through Amazon) and they all had this same smell, to a lessor or greater degree. (The one I tried with all surfaces sealed did not have this issue.) Eventually I tried ordering the same thing from a different website and it did not smell. So I think the conclusion is this in not an item to buy through Amazon. At least not right now (pandemic) while many spaces are getting saturated with chemicals on a regular basis. Interestingly though, most of my other items that come from Amazon don't have this same smell, so I'm not sure how to explain that.

Beautiful and functional mortar and pestle. After reading reviews I was concerned it would be fragile or arrive broken but no issues after months of use. I only use it to crush eggshells (that have already been cleaned and dried) for gardening and homemade toothpaste so I don’t need to wash this out between uses but seems like it would be ok to wash by hand. Size and weight are perfect for my use and functions well. Looks attractive on my kitchen windowsill

I have had this mortar and pestle set for 10 years and it keeps getting better with age. Great for fennel and other spices

I bought two. Mine is a dark green marble, not the color in this photo. Packaged very well - double boxed with foam peanuts. It looks like a Pharmacy item but I bought it for the kitchen. However, the first thing I did with it was crush up my pet's medication, so I needed both. It has a wonderfully efficient crushing surface. Looks nice on the kitchen counter. Ran it thru the dishwasher with no problem. Gave one to a friend as a Holiday present. Price, color and the other Amazon reviews made me chose this one out of so many. I'm pleased. A mortar and pestle is something I didn't know I needed until I owned it.

I have used my new mortar and pestle exclusively for tea. It is wonderful! The job it does is perfect. I can make the tea course or fine. I believe that I will be using this kitchen tool frequently and for more than just my beverages. I will buy it again if I can no longer use this for some reason.

I have been trying to get my hands on one of these for years, but they are usually so expensive. I bought the green mortar and pestle. It arrived in perfect condition and now I don't have to fight with 2 spoons to crush my dogs medicine anymore, yeay! It cleans up easily and looks beautiful on my counter too!

Bowl is still fine.
