Easy install and great upgrade from factory control
Excellent upgrade for the plastic safety on a Mossy 500. Fit is perfect, and much easier to operate than the factory equipment. High quality, should last a lifetime. Easy install.

VERY Nice replacement for original Safety ‘Switch’
Anodize is good quality on Aluminum slide safety. You should use the original ball detent if you don’t LOSE IT! My slide was plastic, did not contrast the frame and I like the ‘thumb tab’ on this item. Form, fit and function ‘spot on!’ You can install it without full disassembly but it’s VERY ‘dicey!’ AS usual make sure it’s empty blah,blah,don’t be stupid, blah. Mine had a ONE WAY flat blade screw. You can force it out by applying HUGE arm pressure while turning (reverse) BUT YOU MUST have an EXACT FITTING [right width and length] and the edges MUST BE S-H-A-R-P to BITE into the “ramp” of the screw. You need a high quality blade like KLIEN etc. My screw is Hard Steel black oxide and was loctited. You need to push in at least twice as hard as you twist too! DO NOT REMOVE THE SCREW ENTIRELY or the part will fall into the frame! Unscrew just enough to be able to turn the slide sideways VERY SLOWLY as you need to “catch” the spring loaded detent BALL at the rear under the slide. Got to catch the spring too!!! REMOVE both the ball and spring WITHOUT removing the Slide yet. {Even knowing this I still pulled he screw all the way out and dropped the part myself. You can turn the gun upside down and shake it while using something to manipulate back into place.} HERE IS THE TRICK: Make sure you pull the Safety slide all the way back to “SAFE” and pull on the trigger with CONSTANT PRESSURE. You will ‘feel’ that the Safety Slide INNER PART becomes “held in place.” If you slide it forward, it becomes loose and you will drop it into the frame. Play with it to get a feel. Also some may require you to ‘cock’ the gun but of course make sure you are not stupid and it’s loaded blah, blah etc. PREPARE THE NEW STUFF and it would be smart to get a second person to help while you disassemble and re-assemble. Now that you got it held in place by trigger force, unscrew the original slide and have someone remove the Hardened Steel Dentent Plate that is under the Original slide. Have you helper put the Plate on the New Slide, place the screw in it and the Allen driver in the screw for you. Make sure the plate and new slide are oriented correctly to each other and the frame operation position. The “thumb tab” goes oward the Stock as well as the detent Plate. ALL WHILE STILL HOLDING THE TRIGGER start the screw into the INNER PART and tighten until it snugs down just a little with the SAFETY SLIDE “CROSS WAYS” on the frame so you can access the SPRING/BALL DETENT hole. Again this is a little exciting as you NOW LOOSEN the screw some, install the spring AND set the Detent Ball on top of the spring and then CAREFULLY ROTATE the Safety slide over top of the Spring/Ball Detent. You may need some fingernails to push Ball down some to get it under the Detent Plate. I can’t emphasize enough the delicacy of this procedure so as not to lose anything!!! Once you get it all in place, tighten it down and MAKE SURE IT OPERATES PROPERLY numerous times before loading it up. {I did this by myself as no one around and DROPPED THE DETENT BALL into the frame as the INNER PART moved forward while I was trying to get it under the Detent Plate. After a little tapping back & forth while upside down, it finally fell back out into my lap - whew!}

Easy install, works great and looks cool
I ended up returning this one and ordering on the NDZ site because they only had the blue shell follower in stock, and the blue safety wasn’t in stock on Amazon. Still this was a great purchase for my 1987 mossberg 500. It took about 10 minutes to install and works flawlessly, much better than the original one. The follower is also great, they both feel much more solid and stronger than the original ones.

NDZ Does It Again
Easy install, I personally used a dab of gun grease to hold the detention ball in place ( a lost ball is the reason for my order). This is my 2nd NDZ purchase. Great product over the plastic factory version. I like the black for the safety button but plan to purchase the red magazine follower.

MUST HAVE FOR A MOSSBERG 500...See Review
The only reason I gave this safety switch 4 stars instead of 5 is NOT the fault of NDZ Performance. It's a Mossberg 500 safety switch. That means you have to totally take the shotgun apart to install the switch correctly. That means having to fill the frame with a towel or something similar to hold the switch in place, while simultaneously holding your fingers inside the frame, and then hope you can get the install screw to "bite" the threads at least once. From there, it's very simple and then your Mossberg 500 becomes the very best it can be when it comes to insuring that safety works. I mean it...that NDZ Performance Safety Switch made a whole bunch of difference with or without gloves, in insuring your shotgun is safe to carry and safe to shoot. Great Product!

Fit, finish and function great
I have ordered NDZ products in the past they are of high quality I have never had any issues with a ease of installation they make things very simple to put in most items are very simple to put in but if there's any question about it it's pretty much step by step I use this to replace the safety on one of my firearms in our shop it was easier to grip onto with your finger then the stock one was making it much easier to use in the field as long as NDZ stays in business I will always purchase products from them

5 Stars with a caveat
I ordered one to replace the factory safety one on my Mossberg 940. Watch the video seems so simple., most people were saying it took 5 or 10 minutes. I worked and worked on mine and could not get it to turn at all. Finally, I watched some other video reviews and a few people were like me that it would not come off and had to go to a gunsmith. In one of those reviews, they mentioned the gunsmith said he found a Loctite substance on the origional screw, only it was black in color instead of red or blue. Said to try denatured alcohol. I dripped denatured. alcohol on it and let it set 5 or 10 minutes and my screw came out so easily. So if yours doesn't come out easily at first, try a couple drops of denatured alcohol, and let it set a few minutes. NO need to fight it.
