Cables Really Can Make a Difference
Okay, in my attempt to keep things simple in any and all future reviews I must first state that: I always dissed computer audio. I am an audiophile and why anyone would want or need more than 2 speakers was beyond me. However I have always known that you usually do, get what you pay for. I do not believe that cables ( Kimber, Cardas, Pangea, ect.) have to cost several hundreds of dollars either. But, I have been using AudioQuests Evergreen and Cinnamon cables for over a year. I purchased this cable specifically to use with the Dragonfly DAC I acquired and I am very, very happy with my purchase. I run the RCA's to the CD input of my receiver and use my laptop as a "CD' player through the Dragonfly. This combo sounds so good that I have been burning my vinyl to computer audio files (100 Sinatra albums so far) and I did a test with much cheaper cables. Now, some of you will say that 35 bucks for a cable is outrageously expensive but you'd be wrong. If you are using powered speakers or like myself a receiver to listen to your stored files buy AudioQuest's mini-2.0M to RCA to feed the music to your exterior system. I could tell the difference between the Monster RCA's and the Evergreen's a year ago and I still can. My phono, (Project Debut Carbon), my CD player, NAD (C546BEE), are both connected with Evergreen's as well. Just try it yourself, if you have any doubts. My equipment is not 'high end' and I do now have a 7.2 system in my listening space, as a surround sound installer I know that good cables improve sound and vision. Would the AQ's Golden Gate 3.5 Mini-RCA (100 bucks) sound better than the Evergreen's? I would think so but I really don't care, the Evergreens are outstanding with any and all analog recordings that I have listened to in the past year and I see no need to upgrade, unless I hit the Lotto and can afford that 20,000 system I lust for. If you own Audioengines (w.o. the dac) or PSB's powered desktop speakers you really should look into this wonderfully transparent cable.

High res integration to car audio
Great cable we’ll made. This particular one is not to expensive for the lengthI don’t know if I could justify spend 500 for the higher end version of thisFor any one searching I will explain why I purchased thisI hope my fellow car audio/ home audio friends see thisSo I have a DAP aka portable high res playerI love car audio buTI don’t want to lose my factory headunit becauseI’m lazy and enjoy my backup cameraSo I found this out .....plug in this cable 3.5mm aux into your player. Then run the cable to your car audio dsp analog inputsThe high res player will be at a fixed level and the volume knob of your dsp is what controls the volume. It’s best to turn off all eq’s and audio enhancements of your player so your dsp controls all of the sound. That’s it. This is really how you properly put high res in your car. All amps all speakers will play whatever signal you send themYour source unit AND Dsp have to be high res compatible. There is only one brand of dsp that has a high player built in ... zapco adsp has an iPhone controller that will allow that but there is zero customer service or support from zapco. That’s why I stay with the jl processorsBecause it’s made fantastic and the support can’t be beat..Jl audios fix 86 and twk 88 play 24/48. And let me tell you the initial jump from mp3 and cd quality 16/44.1 to 24/48 is amazingI have yet to experience anything above that but from what I’ve read honestly anything above 24/48Is inaudible to human hearing and a marketing hype..This cable is a game changer. And there is my months and months of research about how to put high res into your car audio setup it’s not about amps or speakersIt’s about a high res player of your choosing then you add this audio quest 3.5mm to rca cable to a good dsp like a jl fix or twk Mosconi makes a really nice dsp. And audiotec fisher makes some great DSP’s Alpine has the newest one the pxe-x09 it can be found on another site. Go alpine USA to find out where.Your audio will only be as good as your sourceAnd shaping of that signal is the responsibility of your dsp. There you have it

An excellent cable for use in stationary home setups, not suitable for portable use.
These are a fantastic cable if you are using them in a situation where 1) the cables won't be moved around too much and 2) your connected equipment doesn't have RCA jacks that are spread apart more than 1.5-2 inches. They are made out of solid core copper, which is more prone to breakage than stranded copper, and I am using them in an environment where I do not need to move it around much, so it fit my situation perfectly, but in a mobile environment or as a cable that is constantly disconnected and where the RCA jacks are disconnected and reconnected constantly, they will be prone to breaking. That being said, this cable is highly transparent, and in terms of sound staging and detail retrieval, it is up there with the best of the stranded cables I have used in the past, which all cost at least twice to five times what this cable cost. I am using it to connect my FiiO X1 portable digital audio player to my Meier Audio Corda Arietta headphone amplifier, and in this setup it works fantastically. I only wish I could use it with my high end amplifier, as I would purchase another one to use with it, but alas, it has about a 4 inch spread between its RCA jacks, and the RCA's on the AudioQuest cables in this series will not spread apart enough to work with it.
