Unisex Adults’ Quicklace Kits Shoe Laces

When I got my Salomon trail shoes I was skeptical about these laces. Since then I have become their number one fan. They look thin and less strong than other laces. After several years of use in the woods they did wear out but that would be the average use I could get from any laces. Most other tie laces in the woods need retied on an average outing in the woods and sometimes multiple times a day. That happens even when I double tie the knots. The problem is multiflora and other thorny shrubs tear at laces and find a way to untie your shoes. Well that is where these laces shine. They hold securely and I have never had to adjust them in the field. They are quick to loosen and tighten and they just plain work. I don't mind elastic lacing on shoes I use at home or when not in the woods but in the woods I like my shoes to be more secure. They need to be more firm fitting especially when I am scrambling over rocks and uneven terrain like we have in our parks from glacier deposits. Since I use my shoes mainly in these conditions, these laces are my favorite and the best I have ever had. I did watch a YouTube video to make sure I installed them correctly and was concerned until I realized that they had improved the locking device. It no longer had a removable gear but had an internal spring to make it even more user friendly. With the newer design you push the top down to open the holes to insert the laces from the bottom. If your in need of good laces for heavy use I highly recommend these.

Good quality but be prepared for frustration when installing them. Yes, I said installing because good lord this took a bit. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT THROW AWAY THE INSTRUCTIONS ON THE BOX! Speaking from experience here… worked great on Salomon shoes!

I wouldn't use these to replace normal laces. They are too thin and I think they would rapidly damage the lace holes. However, they work perfect as replacements for speed laces. They are almost identical to the ones off my adidas shoes. They are a little tedious to replace. I used a little metal tooth scraper to push the laces through eyelets if they wouldn't go. it was a bit of a challenge to get them through the tensioning piece as well, but a little help from the tooth scraper got them through. Then, you have to make sure they are pretty even in length before you tie the knots for the final piece, then cut excess material and melt the ends. I needed a pair of channel locks to squeeze the two pieces together. Probably not the easiest assembly, but not too difficult and only about 30 minutes or work.

Good quality and worked as advertised and seem as good of quality with the exception being the plastic connector. I used a toothpick to help feed the ends through. Also, after you cut the loops; I recommend pulling the outer material beyond the inner core. That way when you fuse (melt) the ends it is smaller in diameter. Some of the reviews talked about the plastic connector and it not holding well. So I took no chance and once I had the ends tied and in the plastic connector; I used JB Weld to glue the string inside the connector and glue the connectors together. It’s been a week and had no problems.

Was unhappy to learn my Salamon hiking shoes that I bought at REI required a proprietary shoelace that I could only get online. REI told me the unisex laces would work and they did. The instructions were not helpful. REI had told me to find a YouTube video and luckily I did. I needed a scissors and a lighter and even a pliers to pull the knots tight. Not difficult once you do it and I’m happy with the laces, but seems a lot to do when you break a shoelace!

I would give it 0 stars if I could. I did watch the video and it looked easy and everything was fine until I got to the part where you have to snap the back piece of the slider tab into the hole in the cog wheel in the main slider tab. After two hours of trying, I have deemed it impossible due to a defect in the design of the slider tab. I did follow the video's instructions to get the wheel as far down into the body of the slider tab as I could and yes, the cog was facing in the correct direction. I tested to make sure the snap on piece (the smaller piece that has a small peg in it) snapped into the cog wheel and it did, but when you assemble the whole thing, the cog wheel sits a smidge too far down in the body of the tab to be able to snap the peg piece in to get it to "catch". I ended up using the kevlar laces and just tying them like regular shoelaces and tucking both the tied portion and the ends into the flap in the tongue of the shoe so you can't see them. If Salomon is reading these reviews, your marketing department really, REALLY needs to consider making the eyelets just a wee bit bigger so if the proprietary quick laces break (and they all do eventually), people can just lace them up with regular laces and get some additional wear from their shoes. Otherwise, I would imagine, many people who are frustrated with the Quicklace kits will probably just toss the shoes and at $120 dollars, that is just a shame since your shoes are great but the proprietary laces, once they break will render the shoes useless unless people come up with some creative way to lace them and continue wearing them but at $120, people shouldn't have to expend so much energy to try to find a way to replace a shoelace...Come on, Salomon, it's a SHOELACE! I will most likely never buy Salomon shoes again unless they provide a bigger eyelet that will accomondate regular laces if the Quicklace breaks.

It seems as if they aren’t quite as sturdy. I’m not constantly hiking and climbing but it seems as if I had to replace them at least once a month. It starts to get pretty pricy. They do well, they’re easy to put together, but just not as strong and lasting.

Great , I use them for everything, shoes , boots and if you wear BDU'S DEFINITELY GET THEM TO BLOUSE YOUR PANT LEG AT THE BOTTOM

A la derecha muestro la nueva (me he equivocado al poner lo del centro) y a la izquierda el auténtico. Muy fácil de poner y parece de buena calidad. Para ponerla yo he hecho todos los pasos como indica, a excepción de que yo he usado todo lo que llevaba la cordonera original y a qué no he hecho el nudo al final. En el paso 7, en vez de hacer el nudo yo he rasgado la cordonera y con un mechero la he unido. He probado primero a hacerlo a un corte más largo y viendo que me ha salido bien, lo he hecho con el corte normal.
