Q: There is no upper left hand "button" to push to change the light or turn it off. Where did it go?

My unit does not have a button, it is always on, you cannot change the intensity of the light or turn it off.

Q: How many slides can it hold at one time?

It only gives you 20 scanned slides with a free membership. You need to sign up and pay to have more slides scanned.

Q: I already have a light box. How much is the software.?

There was no software purchase necessary to use this light pad. It’s simply just a light pad. If you’re asking about the apps to use for your pictures or negatives on the light pad, then yes, there are in-app purchases. I have used Photomyne, Film Box, Slide Scan and Remini. Each of these will give you a few freebies, but to effectively utilize the apps, you would need to make purchases. I hope this helps! Good luck!

There is a button that is flush with the frame in the upper left corner close to the power inlet. It’s a touch sensitive button. Not one you push.
