His marketing advice revolves around blogging
I voted "It's okay" because the marketing advice in this book (and marketing is EVERYTHING for a freelancer) is entirely based upon Mr. Cubbon's recommendation to blog. I was disappointed in the book for this reason -its narrow approach to marketing. The mantra of "only" marketing online almost completely saturates the how-to articles, advice and books that are published on freelancing today. It's advice that you hear literally everywhere. And the advice to blog will not work well for someone who simply doesn't like to write. Lastly, blogging alone to develop clientele isn't enough. You need a good sense of what to blog about, superb social media skills, and a lot of ideas for articles.Web design business is, for a startup web design shop, highly local. Your first clients will probably be people and businesses already known to you. And there are many marketing techniques that are open to local businesses that don't require a process of generating content marketing. They are cold calling, direct mail, drop in visits to businesses, to name a few. Mr Cubbon does mention business networking groups like BNI as an aside, but networking also happens as a by product of just knowing people in your community.I have witnessed successful independent web design shops run by folks who seem to have absolutely no interest in content. (I know of one small but successful web designer whose blog is a collection of links to business magazine articles. I don't recommend that, but on the other hand this is saying that the skill set to be a successful freelance web designer has little to do with writing aptitude.)I removed my last review of this book because the conversation between me and Mr. Cubbon turned into an advice session for my blogging activity. For this review the focus needs to be kept on this book.

Web Design Business From Home--- With Little Effort and Earn money!!
There are many examples where author suggest some best tips to run a successful webdesign business , I like-**“Is what I’m doing right now getting me where I want to go?”**People will contact you wanting a website but 9 times out of 10 they won’t have thought about SEO, social media, a blog and sometimes even content. You need to offer as many of these services as possible.** How to make your plans as SMART as possible – that is specific, measureable, achievable, realistic and timely.**Why free don't work-“this won’t take you long”, “if you do this for free there’s a guarantee of future work” or “can you write a proposal on how to improve these 4 websites”.**Even though, as I say, not all clients are created equally, I always treat everyone with the same respect and politeness. This is because, I believe, I am a brand. Everything I do reflects on my reputation and my business.**Never use words like “difficult”, “delay”, “complicated”.If we want to run a web business and creating some best passive income, must read this book.. It's a Jam.

A Go To book for opening and running your Web design business, by a successful Web designer and marketer
I like this book for its practicality and insights on how to create and to maintain relationships with your clients, and to meet as many of their needs as you can. It's very pleasant to read and I found it helpful to hear first-hand how Rob created his business, what decisions he made regarding his focus, and why.Update: Quite a few months later, I'm closer to being ready to open a little Web shop. Upon revisiting this book and also Rob's "Create The Website You Want With WordPress" I am reminded it's a complete Go To book for all the details of running your Web design business. Rob has written out the best working and customer procedures, warns not to work cheap and offers many other insightful tips. Rob has packed his books with what you need to do what he has done. Which he has indeed done, so I think it's nuts not to by this book if you want to open a Web design shop.

Better than a Webinar or 3-Day Conference
Better than any webinar or 3-day conference on how to start a business, Rob Cubbon has given us an in-depth look at how you can start, and grow, a web design business from anywhere. With clear direction, Rob has avoided all the hype and hysteria that accompanies so many "How To" books by mapping out how to start, grow, and maintain a web design business. I've been a web designer for over 20 years and this information is dead on. Follow it, and you will be well on your way to success. Don't waste your time, or money, on webinars or conferences when you can have everything you need to know in a lovely, compact book you can turn to time and again.

Real world wisdom on running a design business...and not just "being a designer".
I'm halfway through this book and I am learning a lot! I've been a designer for a long time...I've got that down. But I've never been great at running the business, and that's where this book fills the gap. It's obvious that Rob has a lot of valuable, real-world wisdom to share. This book is making me think about what I am doing as a business...and not simply a designer. I can tell that the lessons learned in this book are going to pay big dividends down the road.Highly recommend.
