Awesome Workout!
Wow! This workout is super duper cool!Man, Kathy will always be my main girl!First off, you get two 20 minute workouts, an upper and lower body, that's a great substitute for Cathe Friedrich's stuff that's forever and a day long. I'm telling you, you get the same muscle soreness in Kathy's 20 minutes that you get in Cathe's 68 minutes on so on...I started off on Cathe's STS, which works like magic to strengthen you up, and it got me hooked on pushups, but those workouts are too long and some of the exercises I can't do. So I don't recommend STS because it's too expensive, too long, and not all of the exercises you'll be able to do. Not to mention that you need a fully equipped home gym with all sorts of stuff to roll with Cathe. Which isn't really necessary.So I'm adding a lot of short 10 to 20 minute workouts to my workout library, because I found that the shorter workouts are just as effective but in less time which means a greater probability of sticking to regular exercise. Even on days when you rather get shot than to lift a leg. Come on, 10 to 20 minutes won't kill you, and you'll feel better and stronger after you do it.Now don't get me wrong, the lower body portion of this Timeless collection isn't as potent as Cathe's Legs and Glutes that's 51 minutes of leg strengthening phenomenon, but in 20 minutes, you're surely good to go! Legs and Glutes is so potent, that you shouldn't try to pull that off no more than once a week. So Kathy's lower body portion is suitable to do everyday if you want. It contains several of the moves in Legs and Glutes, and I'm madly in love with it!And you also get like a 7 min ab workout that'll get your abs sore too! If you put a little squishy ball or peanut ball under your lower back, you'll get even greater muscle stimulation. The ab portion is nice, short, and effective.Man... Kathy Smith is one of my main Goddesses!! Girlfriend still knows her stuff! So get this workout! It's a must have! I can do my pushups, and all that stuff in STS in 20 minutes! Cool! You'll love it! And a man can benefit from it by just using dumbbells heavy enough.

If you want to reduce weight, it's not your workout. But you can reduce some inches
I bought this DVD because the VHS version Vol 1 had so many good reviews and strength training is supposed to be very important to women.I liked the fact that is is broken down into 20 minute segments. I followed the video suggestions. I did the 20 minute upper body 3x per week (started w/5 lb weights and worked up to 8lb)and the lower body 3x per week (worked up to 5lb weights around each ankle) and did the abs 6x per week. I did this for 5 months straight and measured weekly. I lost about an 1-1/4 on each arm and about 1-3/4" on each thigh. I lost 1 inch off my hips and 2 inches off my waist. During that time my weight fluctuated up and down the same 5 lbs. I went on vacation for 2 weeks and gained an inch back on my waist!After all that time, I expected better.I switched to Jillian Michaels 30 day shred 5x per week. (No change in diet) In 2 weeks, I lost 1/2 inch off my waist and my hips. My tummy is noticibly smaller and my pants are getting looser. I have also lost 1.75 lbs down from my lowest 5 lb range. You get a better body in less time with Jillian.Update: I stayed with Jillians 30DS for 4 months and lost 17 lbs and 2 pants sizes.

Short workout for busy people
I used this product for years in VHS and recently decided to get it in DVD. I am one of you who don't want to spend a lot of time and don't have a lot of time to exercise. This exercise program fits my needs perfectly. I following the part for upper body every other day and ab/back part everyday. My arms are firm and ab is flat. It's all I want. I don't do the part for lower body because I jog on treadmill every other day. The program is easy to follow at home. You don't need to have any fancy equipment except a few pairs of dumbbells, and a weightlifting bench if you have the space. 20 minutes for either upper body or lower body is not too much to ask. I have purchased VHS in the past as gifts to friends, and definitely recommend to anyone who would like to build up your muscle mass without spending a lot of money and time. The only drawback I have with this product is images on DVD is not as clear as on VHS.

Kathy Smith: Use Weights to Lose Weights Vol 1-2
I have done many workouts including Leslie Sansone, The Firm and Cathe Friedrich. This is a good workout for toning. I definitely felt it after I did the routines. Since I only have about 40 minutes in the morning I alternate between and upper and lower and do the abs everyday. I miss having a dedicated warm up and cool down as part of my workout though. You have to do that on your own prior to starting the workout. I like to sweat during a workout and this workout didn't do that for me. Perhaps if I did the upper, lower and abs all together it might. What is annoying however is Kathy's yelling and her attempt at creating enthusiam. She doesn't need that, she is very educational and accurate with her instruction and exercise moves. I turn the sound down. Maybe her perkiness is just too much for me at 5 a.m.!

This is soooo good
All of my adult life, except for the last few years, I have either done yoga or jogging. Then I got sick with IBS. It has taken me 7 years to find something that has helped me get somewhat healthier (high quality probiotics), and the first thing I wanted to do was start working out again. I had seen some older people looking very well and healthy with weight lifting. So I tried Kathy Smith's DVD. It is the most fulfilling workout program I have ever experienced. I had never done it before and thought it would entail joining a health club or maybe other expensive equipment, but that is entirely unnecessary. Kathy Smith is one of the good ones. The way she does the workouts is very user friendly. She knows just how to avoid making the workout a hardship. She switches things up, and it hardly ever gets too rough or uncomfortable. And it is never boring, something I had always accepted about working out. It goes by so fast, and the results are so good and speedy.
