Assembly is easy enough using the instructions, following drawings, no text. Holes in the stainless steel hopper sides match exactly with the installed rivnuts. The tiny bolts are easy to drop and lose, so pay attention, but all goes together nicely. The unit fits over a 5 gallon plastic pail, but with the hand crank, it moves around a lot, and would benefit from being bolted to a stand, I suppose. I found that it worked fine over the bucket when powered by a cordless 1/2" drill. Apples cut in half work best, but whole apples up to about 3" ground up nicely too. The cutter teeth are of a delrin looking material and held up with no issues processing about 30 gallons of ground apples. Overall this worked well for apples ground for the press. Included is a notched wood brace to stabilize the hopper sides by snapping over the sides on top. If using a motor, some type of cover or lid will keep the bits from flying.

We used this to chop about 30 gallons of apples last weekend. It worked great. The flywheel really helps with the ease of chopping. Cleanup was easy. It also holds a good number of apples at a time. Remember to at least cut the apples in half. There is some assembly required.

This will be a long review. This is our first year to make apple cider. We researched for an affordable apple crusher. Husband wanted this model because of the wheel like handle and the metal grinder part. Warning: the metal grinder comes with the model that has the stand. The ad is misleading. When we ordered the crusher WITHOUT the stand, we discovered the model came with nylon plastic grinder instead. So, be aware. Based on reviews, I resealed the box and was ready to return it. My husband, however, called the company to see if a replacement part could be ordered. Thank you, Richard for getting back to us. After explaining our disappointment with the model, he told us that it was possible to order the metal part and kindly shipped it to us at no cost. We received it just yesterday. For customer service, I would give them 5 stars. For the product itself: the hopper is stainless steel, but the grinder part is nylon plastic. All the other parts are decent quality. Use care when assembling. The directions given are visual drawings. You can find a how to video on YouTube. The screws are small, don’t over torque them. The hopper has some sharp edges. My husband smoothed them. He also built a stand for it. We took a chance and used the grinder with the plastic part. I was very nervous, because others in their reviews complained about the part breaking. So as a precaution, I cut our apples up in eighths and sometimes twelfths for large apples. We filled the hopper only half way and used care cranking the wheel. Although it took us a little longer for crushing, the crusher did work very well. It took us 3 hours to crush 85+ lbs of apples and pears for cider. Husband said it was very easy to clean with the spray hose. We have another 100+ lbs to go. Since we now have the replacement grinder part, husband is going to swap it out and save the plastic part as a back up.

I recently purchased this product to use for crushing wine grape clusters on the stem. The crusher worked perfectly. My first run of 60 lbs of grape clusters took only a couple minutes. Yes, the crushing gears are plastic but it's a hard plastic. I can't speak to how this product works on apples, but it makes short work of grapes.

This works excellent! We’ve had 3-4 different choppers for making apple cider. Some just don’t work. This is an excellent choice. Highly recommended.

Thank you very much for sending the replacement frame assembly so quickly. I wanted to provide some context regarding the issue with the original unit. We purchased the item in late November as a Christmas gift. It remained in the box until I assembled it for wrapping, at which point I realized the cylinders were binding. When I tried to install the handle and turn the gears, they wouldn't move. After applying slight pressure, a couple of small pieces broke off. I sincerely appreciate your team’s quick, respectful, and detailed response. We are grateful that you shipped the complete frame assembly replacement within a few days. Despite the initial issue, I believe the product is excellently manufactured. We plan to use the unit to crush grapes around the end of August or the first week of September 2026.

The ad very clearly states that the gears are stainless steel. They are not, they are plastic. And the most support you can get is to return the order. That does not fix the problem, and this product is available with stainless steel or aluminum blade.

When installed on a sturdy frame, this crusher is effective in crushing the fruits as it should. We had an issue with the product and when Amazon could not help us, we contacted the seller and they sent us the replacement part that we needed promptly.
