How many cards can fit in this item?

There are 40 pages, with three cards on each page, but I place cards back to back since visible from either side on the page. Giving me 6 per page x 40 = 240 cards total. I honestly don't think I'm going to fill it.

Does the plastic have a strong smell?

IMO, no it is not smelly. I work in outside sales and this has been a great card holder. Will purchase again.
