I'm not sure I understand what the ball is for on the end. Shouldn't it be a sharp point?

The RS-12 is designed for roll spring (pins) that are hollow so the ball seats in the hollow part of the pin. Our PS-7 has 5 pin punches that are flat on the end for standard pins.
