Q: Has anyone tried making Rotis on this? Could you please share your experience? How easy is it to make puffy rotis?

Works as advertised, saves me a great deal of time and effort. Takes a few tries to optimize roti-making (watch YouTube videos, they help to hone in the skills); I can now make rotis much quicker and easier (more like in one-fourth of the time compared to end-to-end manual operation, from raw flour to rotis). This appliance can and will make good rotis once you master the skills required. Here are the steps I followed (fine-tune as you see fit): Mix 1 CUP (220g/8 oz) flour and 1/8th TSP Salt in a standing (mechanical) mixer Add 1/2 CUP COLD water slowly in portions when the mixer is spinning at slow speed Add additional 1/8th CUP COLD water in portions (if needed) Continue mixing for 5-10 min Let the somewhat sticky dough stand (covered) for 20-25 min Plug in the Brentwood Roti Maker and set at "Max" Roll roti dough into 6 balls (about the size of a golf ball, 2 in diameter) with little dry flour to minimize stickiness Pat the balls to small patties (uniform balls/patties help make near-perfect circular rotis) Place dough patty closer to the hinges in the middle, close lid, press the handle down GENTLY for a second or two; hard press will lead to breakage or push out the dough out of the cooking area Open lid, rotate roti every 5-10 seconds Flip the roti and close lid Roti should puff up Flip the roti again until done to your liking, if desired

Q: If i buy a tortilla maker then i dont need a tortilla press?

It does everything but make the dough.

Q: Does this cook woth the lid closed?

No, after you press gently , u fry in oil to make Puri or ona tawa to make roti!
