Normal light switches work by opening and closing a break in the live side of the cable connected to the light fitting.The receiver in this system needs power to operate (Live and Neutral).Both of these would be available at the light fitting, consequently the receiver unit needs to be connected in this area.At the switch on the wall both parts need to be permanently joined, the switching takes place at the receiver.I purchased this unit to replace a PIR light switch in my garage - there being no switch on the wall.For some reason the PIR unit is triggered when the wind is strong outside, hence the need for a mechanical switch.I found this unit to be well made, it works exactly as I expected it to.

There is no way to wire this into your wall light switch. We have a switch behind a door which is annoying, I thought this unit would work, sadly you need 240v power live and neutral, you can't just wire this switch into a lighting ring unless I'm missing something! I guess it's going to be returned.

To control a light but no wiring for a switch

This is not only an amazing concept and product design, which I don't need to go into as you can just read the product page; but it has so many uses and really makes your life much easier!I've ended up using to add more light to my conservatory if needed. My old setup was that I had a small wall light. I ended up externally drawing some wire to a beam on the ceiling and attaching another light there. However, I didn't want to always turn this light on and needed a way of individually controlling it.. That's where this switch came in handy!I simply wired it up with the receiver in place, and kept the switch on the table so that it can be very easily individually controlled without ever needing to change any batteries as it's battery free! What a brilliant design!Overall, I think this can solve a lot of people's problems for cheap, and I would highly recommend it!

However the installation process isn’t for everyone and you will need someone who is comfortable changing the lights mains supply as the receiver is connected between the light and the main supply.✅ Being able to move the light switch wherever you want is a massive advantage. What’s more is that you can add multiple switches to the same receiver. In my case I have fitted this in my bedroom, and I’ve connected one switch by the door and another by my side table, this has made my life a lot simpler being able to turn the light on and off whilst in bed. Or you can have one switch control multiple receivers so you can switch more than one light off with just one switch.🔻One negative is that the receiver is quite big and some ceiling lights have little room to add this in and you might have difficulty with the installation.Overall, this is a really useful product and reasonably priced. It will save you a lot of hassle and money using this product compared to having a professional come in and install extra light switches. I would happily recommend this product 👍

This works, and is simple to install.The switching unit is installed in line, with the power in (negative and live) and then power out (live and negative) at the base of the unit, and the wires are held in place with four screws.A switch on the unit then controls power on, hold it until a red LED flashes, press the switch and the two pair.Once paired you can turn the lights connected to the unit.The wall switch can be mounted by using sticky tape, it is light and thin, and I assume powered kinetically by pushing the switch, it is quite a solid click, and that's not a bad thing.The control unit is relatively small, smaller than most junction boxes, and would easily fit in a ceiling or stud wall void.I am pleased with this, the instructions booklet was clear, and easy to follow and the device works well - new out of the box.Obviously the usual caveat that I can't speak to durability and longevity, but first impressions are of a well made unit with good attention to detail, such as the inclusion of a silicon grommet to seal the screw holes.In conclusion I liked this.
