As a few people have stated, the green light is something that could do with shutting off, the volume is not variable despite being a volume button on the set, these are programmable radios but it is impossible to get a programming cable, I managed to obtain the software for programming but being in the uk the frequencies are not UK ones despite the label on the box says WT08-02-UK so they are not legal to use in the UK, I eventually put these in a cupboard and got some others that are suitable for my countries allowed frequencies, I would not buy these again.
