This is day 1and 2: I ordered 1 of these panels to replace our previous 3 fireplace ceramic fiber panels that fell apart during a fireplace cleaning. This is easy to cut (I started with a hand saw then moved to the long utility knife and that worked better) I measured, drew my lines with pencil and cut slowly making multiple lengthwise cuts to make sure it didn't break. The pencil rubs off with minimal effort, and yes this material is very fibrous so it's easy to dent, flake off or break corners so be careful and take your time. I would not recommend cutting these inside your home with the dust that comes off as you're cutting- I cut ours in the garage with all doors open. I did have to Google if it was normal for it to turn darker once the fireplace had been used and YES that is normal due to soot and the combustible materials ect that occur when having a fire. I will update if anything changes, but so far this is a great affordable replacement.

Product works well but be careful because it’s brittle when handling smaller pieces. I used it to replace the refractory board on the base of my gas fireplace. After I did the cutout, when of the long and narrow pieces broke when I picked it up.

This was the first time I used this product for a customers fireplace. They had an insert that was old enough that I couldn’t get a replacement for. But I was able to use parts of there old crumbling unit to rough cut it to fit. And it cut very easily with a straight utility blade. Not something I would recommend for the floor where you’ll put the steel insert to cradle the wood but perfect for all the other locations. I literally was done in under 2 hours including my clean up. Loved it and will definitely use it again for other retro fit fireplaces.

It’s a bit flimsy and mfg could make it stiffer!

I received the first board from USPS broken into three pieces. The company contacted me about returning the product and after some pictures they sent me another board through UPS. I cut it to fit and it works great. I definitely recommend this company because of their customers service.

I have purchased different brand of insulation board for the pellet stove wall before. This Ceramic Fiber Insulation Board is actually is heavy and stronger than the other one I have bought. I Glad that i found this product.
