Extremely good quality cacao!!
I know everyone is on this ceremonial cacao trip, I thought I could save money and order some raw cacao powder and add some fat to it, but boy was I wrong. The chalkiness was still there. Decided to try this one and it actually is a great price! And the TASTE. OK, I haven’t reviewed anything in a while because it takes time. But I thought immediately, “I need to come back and let you guys know not to miss out on this.” I don’t know what the other reviewer was saying about it not being able to dissolve in hot water, because I put three wafers( they are a circular shape, They don’t match the picture, but I actually like the shape better) I put three wafers in almost boiling water, stirred it up with my fork until they melted, and then I used a frother, added some cold water to it to make it not so hot before I added my every daydose of mushroom coffee, and let me tell you this is the best morning drink I’ve had in a very long time!! The cacao taste is superb. I even ate one when it arrived. There’s no sodium in it but it was salty! You can really taste the deep flavor and the minerals in this cacao. I hope this review helps you decide.

Great value, comes in discs now for easy measuring
I love this brand, I have bought it multiple times for making cacao drink and chocolates. I like how now instead of chunks they are now in the form of wafer discs so it makes it easier to weigh on my scale for accuracy in my recipes. Great flavor, great value.

Staple in my kitchen
This cacao paste has become a staple at home for making hot cocoa. I’ll finely mince it, then blend it in hot water with a bit of maple syrup. It has a great dark chocolate taste.ONE MAJOR CAVEAT - do not leave these on your porch in warm or sunny weather. Cacao paste has a low melting temperature (95 F), and your chocolate will melt together if you leave it somewhere warm. I’m not knocking any stars for this item, because that is an intrinsic property of cacao paste.

EXCELLENT product....just be aware
I LOVE this product....it's EXACTLY what I was looking for, minimally processed and TRUE cacao. For people who are new to TRUE cacao, just be aware that if you're accustomed to "American-style" Hot chocolate....and/or "Processed with Alkali" Hot Chocolate with tons of sugar....and you're expecting this to taste exactly like that, you're going to be disappointed.....as you can see from a few reviews bashing the taste of this product. There is NOTHING wrong with this product...it tastes EXACTLY the way TRUE cacao tastes....so if your taste buds are looking for a replica of "American style" Hot chocolate, which has had all the life processed out of it....then this product is probably NOT for you, and I'd recommend looking elsewhere. On the otherhand, if you're looking for a TRUE cacao, which has been minimally processed and healthier and MOST IMPORTANTLY, tastes INCREDIBLE, then this is the product for you. This Cacao is more akin to the type of Hot Chocolate that you find in the Caribbean and Mexico....so it tastes different from the American style Hot chocolate....but in my opinion, it tastes SOOOO much better, and is in fact, SOOOO much healthier for you too.I've been using cacao paste....to make Keto Hot chocolate for over a year....Simple recipe...lots of heavy cream and water, cacao paste and ceylon cinnamon....just heat on the stove, stirring until the cacao melts and incorporates into the liquid...or, if you're lazy like me, put everything in a huge mug and put in the microwave...(just watch it so it doesn't boil over)...and VOILA....a DELICIOUS hot drink, that's actually good for you too.I HIGHLY recommend this product.

Smelled weird, not like good fair-trade Ceremonial cacao should smell. Kinda bad, actually.
It didn't smell very good compared to one that was 2-3 times the $$.Not just that, my medical Intutive said that is is not for me; that validated what I was picking up. Maybe it was the packaging/freshness, or eventhat the vibe was that it had so so many middlemen, far removed from the Indigenousity of the farmers that grew it. I hope it wasn't slave labour. I just don't know. However, it was easy to contact them for queries about the lead-cadmium labels, which were below the Calif. standard levels. Sorry, because it was less costly, but, there ya go, the Farmer's are not getting a fair deal. May be mass-produced.I am very sensitive/intuitive, so I will chose a better quality product instead. Even the one I had for 5+ years tests better.

Amazing quality & and an experience when prepared correctly!
I use this as part of a ceremonial cacao self-ritual. The quality of this is beyond my expectations and above that of many other cacao pastes I have tried in the past, you can tell that this is raw, organic, and fermented at a lower temperature. To prepare the cacao I start by shaving a chunk with a knife (see 1st photo). From there I prefer to blend it lukewarm with a high-speed blender with a touch of salt, cayenne pepper, and very occasionally oat milk and monkfruit if I want a less bitter experience.I also avoid adding hot water, as it will negatively affect the nutrients the cocoa provides, nor does it melt the cocoa like chocolate melts. The second photo shows how ineffective it will be if you try to melt the paste in hot water after shaving it rather than using a high-speed blender. For dosing 20-30g is considered a meditation dose, and 40-50g is considered a ceremonial dose. I would start slow as ceremonial can cause GI upset/purging if your body isn't accustomed. As far as effects, I best describe it as a gentle heart-opening experience great for self-love, love for others, and a general connection.

Misleading - ad doesn't match product
The ad here on Amazon shows the product is low-temperature sun-dried and a specific variety while the product looks more processed and the label is completely different with no indication or low-temp preparation... defeats the purpose and is purposefully misleading. Can't know what we're getting from this brand if they aren't going to be consistently transparent. However... I will say I tried shaving, powdering this, and using it ceremonially and it has been helpful.
