Amazing. depending on the price
First of all I definitely got more than 10 balls in my pack and yes they are quite tiny but totally worth it.... depending on the price. I bought these for just under $10 and was shocked to see they're now $18 as that seems quite high to me. Honestly though they really work. I won't lie I love my betta, Walker, truly I do but I HATE tank cleaning and can be quite lazy with it. I did a home upgrade for Walker about 4 months ago and after soaking as directed (I soaked mine overnight though just to be extra careful) put about 4-5 of these in my 3 gallon filtered tank. I also have 1 full grown blue ramshorn and a couple baby blues (yes avid aquarists I am aware of snail parameter requirements and do snail control but leave them be when they're small and can't add that much to the bio load) that have popped up since, obviously snails really help with algae control so they have been doing the work there but these balls aren't supposed to clean that anyways. However I have not done a manual clean or even partial water change since the tank upgrade although I have added betta treated water about 3 times due to evaporation. BUT I do test my water more often and even checked it this morning and it was PERFECT.. in fact has been every single time. My water is crystal clear, gravel isn't dirty, bioload obviously hasn't been a problem and algae production is incredibly low like almost nonexsistent (and I know this because I have to supplement my snails with algae wafers on an almost twice a week basis). These perfect parameters which have my betta & ramshorns in amazing health and tank immaculate are most definitely due in part to these tourmaline balls (snails also love to suck on these btw). But it should be noted that I also use Catappa (betta) leaves and calcium wonder shells as well as having two large marimo balls and an amazon sword plant in my tank, each of these items has it's own benefits and plays a role that together creates this essentially perfectly balanced underwater eco system.

So cute
Beautiful stones. Small and quaint. My fish hasn't even noticed it yet but my tank is happy.

Small lava bead rocks that help with water conditioning.
These lava rocks look nice in our 55 gallon aquarium sprinkled around the base of the volcano decoration. We purchased a 50 count of these beads to see how we liked them and just put them right into the aquarium without rinsing them off. It wasn't until I went to purchase more of these beads that I read through the information in link about rinsing them thoroughly before use to wash off any dust so I made sure to do that with the new rocks before placing them in the tank. I like that these lava beads look nice and they help maintain ideal water conditions for our Betta fish. I would like to have been able to purchase a larger quantity of these lava rocks so I wouldn't have to buy 4-5 packs to get the amount of them that I want for our aquarium. I will purchase for of these beads. I would recommend them to others who have Betta fish.

Don't notice a difference
Really small. They have been in the tank for about a month and I don't notice any difference in how the fish look

Huge Difference!
So I did get these along with some sungrow betta leaves, and I put them both in at the same time so I don't know which thing made the most difference (it was probably both though). The leaves are also under $10, so I spent like less than $20 and my betta is back to his hold self. I went on vacation and left him with a family member, and he got a really bad case of fin rot and I think something else (he was swelling up). He was on the brink of death and I managed to bring him back, but he's never quite been his usual active self after that. He would always eat, but he was very lethargic and would pick a spot in the tank and stay there for hours, when he used to greet me and swim around all the time. I've had both these in the tank for 3 days, and every time I see him he's in a new spot! He no longer lingers around the top just sleeping, he's actually exploring again. I was skeptical that these things could make any type of difference, but they definitely did. I'm sure it will only get better as he continues to heal (which both these products claim to promote a healing environment, cool!)

Did NOT work for my betta!!!!!
I bought these because I was told they are beneficial for bettas. Followed the instructions of letting them soak in a cup of his tank water overnight, then dropped them into the tank. I only put 4 of them in, he's in a 25g with about 12 ghost shrimp. Legit not even a few hours later, I found Elvis laying at the bottom on his side. HE NEVER DOES THIS. My betta is a super healthy, happy, hangry, active boy. I monitored him for several hours, tested his water parameters, everything. The ONLY difference / change in the tank in the past week was adding those four tourmaline balls. So, I hastily removed them. Within a few hours, Elvis was back 'up and running', wanting food, at the top of the tank, swimming around, being social. I do not know if it was these magical balls or what, all I know his, bruh did NOT like them. And I thought my beautiful Elvis was going to leave the building. =( I'm sure they would work fine for some fish or maybe adding them BEFORE you add fish is a 'thing'??? Betta are very hardy so it just creeped me out to see how these balls made him act like a zombie. And no, he wasn't sleeping. He sleeps at the top of his tank in the multiple hammocks I created for him. Anyhoo. Betta parents beware, this one made my dude seriously screwed up. He's back to good now but man was I scared!!!
