No regrets!!
Wow, what a product!! I have spent an ungodly amount on Phillips hue products and now have my four bedroom house fully upgraded to smart lighting. I have 45 bulbs and 16 accessories set up and the results are incredible; if you are even the slightest bit tempted to start upgrading your lighting then just do it!!The setup I have gone for is a fully automated lighting system in every single room which is easily achieved with the motion sensors. The additional formulas Phillips produce via hue labs in the app have made my system flawless. I’m going to list my set up as I wasn’t sure what I needed when I started!Downstairs Bathrooms - Simply purchase the plain white bulbs to keep the costs down and a motion sensor per bathroom. You can set the lights to turn on when you walk in and automatically turn of a minute after you’ve left. Ideal for a room you tend to dart in and out off. The plain white bulbs are so cheap now and they give off very very good quality light.Bedrooms - All of my bedrooms feature a 2m LightStrip behind the headboard which emits the most incredible ambient glow around the headboard and out from underneath the bed. I have these on a motion sensor to again turn on and off as I enter and exit the room. At nighttime they automatically turn on to a very dim nightlight that turns off after one minute; that doesn’t wake my partner so no more fumbling with a phone torch. The sensor is angled away from the bed so it doesn’t turn on when tossing and turning or other things.... In frequently used bedrooms I also have Lightstrips behind the dressing tables and the odd lamp, the ambiance is mesmerising and the options for scenes mind boggling. I have also set Alexa to dim my bedroom lights to magenta, play some smooth tunes all under the command “sexy time”. The main bedroom lights simply feature the white Phillips hue bulb, you don’t need the coloured ones in you main light they just don’t give off a very good effect compared to more ambient lighting such as lamps.Kitchen - I have a LightStrip with 6 extensions giving all of my cupboards top and bottom under counter lighting. This is bright enough to be used as the sole lighting for the room most of the time and really gives the kitchen a modern edge! I also have two colour GU10 bulbs under the cooker hood and three colour screw bulbs in my main lights. As with the other rooms everything comes on and off automatically with a motion sensor. This is my favourite room to play with scenes! You can purchase an aftermarket 3m extension cable for the strip lights which is vital to place them under the various counters and cupboards.Landing and En-Suites - The upstairs bathrooms and landing lights I have the white dimmer bulbs installed along with the motion sensors. The main reason for this is so that at nighttime the bathroom and landing lights can mirror the soft nightlight that comes on in my bedroom so that the whole house doesn’t wake up! We all have different schedules at home so this is incredibly useful. I also have a couple of rice paper lamps; cheap ikea Holmo lamps with colour hue bulbs installed. These help continue the ambiance throughout the house and give off a lovely softly diffused light.Living Room - This is where I’ve gone all out! I have a light strip behind the TV providing the back lighting. I also have a Light strip behind my drinks cabinet and the bottles also help diffuse the light further and the effect is breathtaking!! I also have 3 rice paper lamps around the room and everything, whilst put together using hue sync to watch a film is amazing! Such an immersive experience. I actually save money, my existing light fittings in the living room consist of 16 light bulbs and now they never need to be used.Office - The office is simpler; one light strip behind each desk and a Phillips colour hue bulb in the main light fitting. I also have one white ambiance bulb in my desk lamp and setting this all to the scene “concentrate” really helps you crack out the desk work.Older & non technical people - Of-course everyone isn’t as tech friendly as myself and it would be a nightmare having to use my phone to alter every light as and when! The motion sensors automate everything but I also have installed 4 “kill switches” around the house. These are the Phillips hue dimmers and the benefit of having these is so that my elderly father can easily turn the lights of without waiting for the motion sensors time delay to kick in. It also gives him the reassurance that he can control the lighting at will.Chandeliers - It would be crazy to install 60 hue bulbs to fill my chandeliers.... Instead as mentioned before I have placed rice paper lamps and Lightstrips in these rooms and it is more then ample and more energy efficient!Any questions about this system please ask I am happy to help. The system is almost instantaneous and has worked flawlessly. The only issue I have had with all the products I have is a light strip power supply plug failing but Phillips are picking this up to replace it, no hassle at all.

Absolutely love it
Great addition to hue light system, basically a 1.5cm wide bendable plastic strip with small led lights inside. Simply plug in to mains, then connect up to the hue hub using the app. The light strip will then light up any colour and any brightness level you want. The lights are not continuous and are made up of sets of three single colour leds every 5cm along the length by varying the brightness of the individual led in each set of three any colour is possible. Because of this the strip looks best hidden and the light bounced of a surface at least 5cm away, this way the light is excellently diffused.I put this around the edge of my wall mounted led tv, a 2m length fits nicely around the top and both sides of a 42inch screen, so the light bounces of the wall and ceiling around it. The lengths can be joined to make longer strips, using the same power supply. At the end of the strip is a 10cm length of cable with a 3cm x 8cm approx square box that the mains adapter plugs into. This is all fixed and a bit clumsy and should be allowed for as it could make some installations tricky. It is a shame that the wire between strip and controller can’t be extended too. Self adhesive tape is already applied to the strip and controller box, so installation is very easy and quick. Build quality is good.I set this up so the main room and the tv light come on together on the first press of the hue switch, which looks good and really lights up the room. Second press turns off the ceiling light and leaves the strip around the tv on.The possibilities are endless with this product. Absolutely love it.

Excellent... *but beware if trimming down to size*
Bought this - as another addition to our ever-expanding Hue home lighting - to light one edge of the underside of my kid's loft bed. Perfect length at 2m long as that's the same length as the bed... and it looks completely integrated and concealed. The light output is excellent when just used as a regular 'lamp'... but being 'Hue', the possibilities are vast. He can have anything from 'fun colours' to a 'night light'. Best of all, I can program it to suit his routine. Have it gradually fade as he drifts off to sleep and have it softly wake him in the mornings. He's already been a fan having seen it working around the house... now he has his own, he's really smitten. Excellent!!*EDIT 1*Have recently added a couple of these to my study/studio and they're brilliant... although please beware when cutting to size. I'm not sure Philips say as much in their instructions (and I've had a good look) but I would say DO NOT cut them when they are powered 'on' or even with the lightstrip remaining connected to its recently unplugged (and therefore possibly still-discharging) power supply. I did the latter thinking it would be fine... and upon trying them after the trimming found that the remaining end section of LEDs had partially died. I returned them and they were duly replaced, but in retrospect, thinking about it, I suspect it may have been the [metal blade] scissors shorting out the LEDs. I have refrained from cutting the replacements and subsequent sets I've purchased, instead hiding the excess within some plastic trunking. Be warned...!*EDIT 2*I have purchased loads more of these to use around our new kitchen and have been successfully using Litcessory's connectors to split the Lightstrip Plus around the kitchen cabinets and plinths at more convenient 30cm lengths. I have to say though... that I imagine that's probably not a comfortable option for everyone. You will inevitably void the Lightstrip's warranty (as you need to cut it pretty much where Philips wouldn't want you to) and Litcessory's connectors work brilliantly but can be initially a little fiddly. However, the end results are fantastic. Here's hoping that Philips develop something for the next generation of Lightstrip that allows it to be more length-accommodating.
